Its a Diezel Herbert. I've yet to crank it past 11 o'clock, and that was without the band. I really wish it was a smaller wattage amp (30-or so) so I could let it cook. As it stands, its quite loud and overpowers the stage volume if I get anywhere near that loud. My friend up there...

That does sound great. I guess I have a tin ear. I try and try to get a certain tone out of my amp and five minutes of tweaking I've basically forgotten where I started from and what I need to change... I respect the guys who can really dial in an amp/effect.

I could build a plexi shield for about 50 bucks. I've had Hot Plates in the past (two different occasions) and dont really dig their effect.

I've seen a lot of drummers isolate themselves with those plexi-shields. I seem to recall a guitarist using them, but who/when escapes me. Does anyone have any experience with using them? I'm thinking if they work, I could get some actual power tube tone out of my rig. I swear, I never get...

Thanks. It looks like that is for the 60 cycle-type hum elimination, right? And I'm assuming this is what would match impedance levels? If its just the hiss from the amount of gain I'm running on 2+, would it work to minimize that as well?

Any recommendations on how I go about matching impedance? I'll google the Palmer you mentioned and see if it starts to make sense to me...

The way I understand it, the supply of GOOD mahogany has dried up and the stuff they are using these days is much more dense/heavy. They dont just chamber to make them lighter, they chamber them to make them lighter and to hide the fact that the wood under the paint isnt what it used to be.
