They can be really great if you do an EQ match with a real miced acoustic guitar. (in something like the axe-fx) Put that in parallel with the direct sound and some EQ,Verb and it can sound awesome!

Thanks for the reply mdc1mdc11 I'm not playing any chords the riff itself uses that F# Phrygian pattern, in this case just imagine its that ascending line. if played with the second pattern (shifting it down so can see the notes them played together) it gives this sound...

Yup got the major Its in F# Phrygian (which technically is a part of the major scale) but there were two patterns I was trying that seem to blend into each other. D------------------2-4-5--------- A----------2-4-5---------------- E--2-3-5------------------------ for one harmony this seems...
