Thanks all!
They are both definitely "deep cuts." Super low volume amp builder. No idea how many GKG guitars in general made it out, but these were at the very end of their run so probably not many. Came out around the same time as some of the nicer Gibson/Kramer USA reissues and the 80s...
Do you want to be able to footswitch the diodes on/off or similar? I only mention because you can effectively remove the diodes from the circuit by just turning the gain sensitivity all the way down. Unless you have something else in mind of course...
I look forward to this new chapter in the series. I know people compare the Celestion G12H75 Creambacks to V30's but I don't know if they share much in common besides the same cone and magnet size. Maybe could be worth throwing in there even though it's just another Celestion, not necessarily an...
I'd also put the noise gate either after the preamp or just use the software/DAW gate. Being able to customize it later on is one of the best things about modern computer recording. Putting the gate right after the guitar doesn't do as much because most noise is being generated by your OD and...
Picked these two up in a short span of time.
First one, a Stephenson Lead 30. Kind of an odd amp, one I hadn't heard about before seeing it for sale. I didn't really know what to expect but I'm extremely impressed. It sounds great, has quite a bit more gain than I expected as well. I haven't...
Nothing wrong with boosting, but sometimes it's nice to just plug a guitar and cable into an amp and play without worrying about pedals. Many modern high gainers are plenty tight and saturated without it, it's just another tool in the toolbox. Not a necessity for "good tone."
The blue channel with the gain low can get pretty fat if you keep the presence and treble in check. I've found some "odd" settings to be pretty good, such as turning the treble way down and presence up, or vice versa, to keep the cut. However even on the EL34 version it's not going to do that...
Nods in approval
I love my QR's
Also, your band sounds awesome. I love all of the music you mentioned, would absolutely come see a band like that if you were in my area!
Man, that is well packed by GC standards. I'm at the point where I've stopped taking pictures but I've seen some shit. Like a guitar without a case in a big empty box with no padding on the sides at all and it shows up with big dings on both sides of the body etc
On the other hand I've gotten...
It's not something I'd pick for low tuned modern metal, but it'd take a serious situation for me to ever let go of my 2210
FWIW, I paid $1999 for my Herbert Mk1 less than a year ago (plus tax and ship of course) so that's well within your budget. Fizzy only if you dialed it that way on purpose...
I have a KSR Orthos 2, it definitely reminds me of a 6505 but it's different enough to warrant having both. It's less saturated, and less hairy, but for that tradeoff you get a tighter sound and the feel controls add some cool flexibility. The clean channel is great as well. I don't play as low...
I am pretty sure 2016 had the sparkly grey colored foot switch, however 066xxx doesn’t necessarily mean it was made in 2016, from what I understand they can go out of order or something like that - I’m also new to Bogner ownership so I’m not 100% sure. I dated mine by checking the cap date codes...
This always grinded my gears, and the reason I've never had a JVM2xx. OD1 is great - I really dislike OD2.
Like I said before about the EVH 5150 vs 5150Stealth vs 5150EL34, which has been a really successful concept. I think Marshall missed the mark by not having multiple versions.
JVM210...
I'm with you here, I actually *returned* my first JVM, I felt it the TSL did it better. The main reason I got a second JVM is because I found it in Samash for $999 - recently - and couldn't pass it up. Figure I'll do a video at some point about some of the tube switching it does and then let it...
Supposedly they made them in-house, although later ones don't have the "made in USA" sticker on them. Even some early MIJ Charvels had the USA pickups in them, so I guess they sent over a few boatloads before they started winding them in Japan or Korea instead.
I really like the J80C and J90C...
Yes, let the rumors fly!
But for real, it would be cool to see a new Marshall, although I'm not sure what more they can do. 4 channels, all assignable to a 1/4 cable footswitch (amazing tbh), reverb, dual masters, midi. I guess lower the noise floor and add some attenuator/IR/cabsim thingy or...
I've seen this one forever since I'm also in this area
$1000 at best, maybe less depending on that treble post on the floyd. It does have a factory oiled neck, which is pretty nice. I have one very similar to this with a gloss neck and it's one of my favorite guitars, but it cost me 1/3 his...
A demo model at $1800-ish is not a bad deal. Even if you hate it, you don't lose that much when you sell it. At least, compared to most amps where you lose 50% of the value as soon as the return period is over.
PS Let's go ahead and start the rumors of a new amp line, to replace the JVM (which...
