I tracked with APIs for years. 560's on kick, snare and toms on the close mics. Those things can really do some sculpting which a mic crammed inside of a kick drum or 2" off the top of a snare needs.I liked the 550b a lot across a buss or on overheads. I had some 550a's as well. I found them...
Corporate whore. That's not the official job title, but rather more accurate description. Counting my days until I can tell the company to go eff itself with its ridiculous politics and the way it strong arms it down the employees throats willing or not. On the plus side, at least its stressful.
I built a parts guitar Strat to take to college from warmoth parts. Back then, solid koa body and Braz RW neck (both neck and fingerboard) were modest uncharges. I think I put the whole thing together for less than $400 with Duncan pickups. Played a million gigs in college with that guy. Years...

With higher gain heads I’ve gotten to where I either use an xts modded GE7 or a Centura. The GE7 the vast majority of the time. Trim some lows and goose a bit of level. Haven’t used my 808 for a long time. It seems drastic when I do.
I have both a recto and a mark series. Recto is not the amp I go to for tight chugging. It's cool for lots of stuff, but if that tight, palm muted low string chugga chugga stuff is a big part of your playing I could see that not being the amp for you, especially if you're just plugging straight...
2 speakers for my Pro Reverb. Not sure yet. Probably just V30's or a GB and V30.
A recording interface. UAudio of some kind.
A great set of headphones. Probably Focal or HD800
Mobius, unless I can find something smaller for some of the destroyer effects (megaphone, AM radio etc.)
Maybe some...
I'll keep working with it. The best I've found for it, as far as fitting in with the rest of the amps and providing something none of the rest do, is for an EJ like "dirty rhythm". That's not something I have in any other amp. Maybe the iic+ can sort of do it, but the Kelley does it better. I'll...
It's a cool amp. I haven't quite found my step with it yet. I feel like it has something nothing else in that room has. But, most of the time I'm using it as a clean amp for pedals. The Fender has more pure cleans I want. The Matchless has more chime. I haven't quite figured out how to crank it...
Given I have the option to keep what I want, then all of the guitars Pete Skermetta built for me, the classical guitar I used while getting a degree in guitar performance, my Matchless DC30, Naylor SD60, 100B, iic+ and my 2 Bogner 4x12's (one is V30, one is GB's).
There's an element of modded Marshall in there, but there's also tweed fender and even some Dumble or Boogie style tones depending on how you dial it in. It's more compressed and less raw than a true Marshall. The gain is really addictive and satisfying. It can really fatten up single coils. I...
