Kinda URGENT: Some quick VH4 bias help please???

Ohms apparently. The other readings are Volts DC and Volts AC. I have it set in amps DC, selecting the 200mA option.

Kinda URGENT: Some quick VH4 bias help please???

Mark2c, thanks for that pic! Yep, mine looks almost the same, except some different coloured wires around the tranny, but yes i have the black croco on the tap with the 'orangey' wire soldered to it, and currently have the red croco hooked to the tap with the 'yellowy' wire soldered to it. p.s...

Kinda URGENT: Some quick VH4 bias help please???

Thanks for the input. My red lead is indeed plugged into the mA socket on the DMM. I only have two options for red lead insertion on my DMM. The one I'm using is labelled 'V*ohm sign*mA*diode sign*', the other is listed '10A MAX'. Green circle indicates what setting my DMM is on during...

Kinda URGENT: Some quick VH4 bias help please???

I'm in the middle of biasing my VH4. I have a 2002 model with 2007+circuitry. The output transformer has 5 taps instead of the more modern 3 taps; it only has 3 wires on the 5 taps though so I assume theyre basically the same. ANYHOW. I've hooked my black croco to the middle tap (7) and my...

The Diezel Schmidt is an absolute work of art.

Take a roadtrip to Diezel HQ! I was contemplating a trip across australia to try a VH4 out but felt I should trust my gut. So I bought both my Schmidt and VH4 without hearing either amplifier. Luckily the gamble paid off

The Diezel Schmidt is an absolute work of art.

Earlier this afternoon, a friend came around with some cheap, stock 2nd hand Magnum strat he bought at a pawn shop. Cleaned it, restrung it and I ran it through my Schmidt. Mother of God! I couldn't get over how fantastic it sounded through the Schmidt. I'm not saying the guitar was carved...

Having trouble finding replacement fuses for my VH4!

It says on that website that each fuse would cost almost $10AUD each. Is it just me or does that seem a little excessive? I remember buying 6 fuses for my Marshalls for roughly 5 bucks. Argh wish this could be simple, I miss my baby :(

Having trouble finding replacement fuses for my VH4!

Thanks so much! Is it ok that they have those stiff wires coming out from each end yes? I'd just trim them off when I receive the fuses for installation?

Having trouble finding replacement fuses for my VH4!

I've been waiting to retube my VH4 for about a month or more now to no avail, namely due to the fact that I cannot find a place that stocks the fuses for the VH4 (250V - 250mA glass, slow blow/time delay). Places either stock fast blow in that mA rating or they only have 500mA slow blow, can't...

    PETER I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOOOOVE YOU <3 <3 <3 <3

I too must proclaim my intense and undying love for Diezel amps. My schmidt is a beautiful peice of technology and my VH4, despite blowing tubes fairly soon after I got it - is godly. I will admit, I'm a little aprehensive to retube and bias it, as it would be my first attempt doing so, but...

    Diezel and brutality

I would probably suggest the herbert also. I haven't played it but it sounds right up your alley considering what I know about it.

New to the community and a question

My schmidt sounds phenominal through my 1960A with gt12-75's, which surprised me as I hadn't used that cab for ages instead opting for my 1960BV with v30's with the rest of my amps. Sure there are better cabs out there but I consider marshall to be pretty solid/industry standard cabs that...

Has my Einstein been modded? Pics inside

Although I haven't played the Einstein yet, my schmidt does a similar thing when i turn the amp on (ie standby isn't disengaged yet for playing). The channel LED lights up for half a second and then turns off for about a second or two then the channel LED lights up and stays lit. for as long as...

E34L's in a VH4? What are your opinions?

Thanks for the input Jan! I'm basically after a really, really, really heavy, monsterous rock tone. So I guess it's basically a metal tone with alotta mids and softer, warmer highs. A warm, thick, present monsterous tone, there ya go. I was beginning to think perhaps the VH4 was 'too tight'...

E34L's in a VH4? What are your opinions?

The EL34BHT's are what my VH4 came with and they're what failed on me so quickly, I'm sure it was just a problematic tube though. I can get two matched quads of the E34L's for the price of one matched quad of the EL34BHT's however and my TSL is getting toward needing a retubing so that's...

EL34's have more "fizz" then 6550's?

I find this mod interesting, as I began to think my VH4 had too much treble going on (still in the tweaking phase however, only a new owner). If I email you about it would you be able to share the information with me, Mark? Also, perhaps this is a silly question but would there be any mod that...

    Soooo a rackmounted Diezel pre?

I have to agree with glassjaw - i almost was steered away from buying the VH4 from just how many horrendous clips/vids of it I caught on the internet (namely youtube, sure i can listen past the youtube compression etc but there's some HORRIBLE diezel tones out there - user error ofcourse :D ) -...

E34L's in a VH4? What are your opinions?

Well unfortunately, after just a few months of owning my new VH4, I've already blown a power tube or two. Blew them a couple weeks ago and god I've missed it. The weird thing was they blew after a couple sessions of playing my VH4 with the master on 0 (was messing around with some...
