Boost don't work with every amp. I've got a pretty good grasp on metal tones too, I've taken my tube screamer into the studio with my .50Cal+ head and recorded with and without the boost, everyone in the room, singer, pro-engineer, drummer, yes drummer all agreed it sounded better and more...
I would take a MKIII anyday over a Recto. I've owned 3 MKIII's and 3 Recto's ( Two 94's and a 01 Tri-Rec) And the MKIII's owned the rectos. Better leads, tighter low end, just a better amp IMO.
Check out my myspace site, both of us are using MKIII's.
Some of them have 50 watt emi's on the bottom with no emblem at all. I had to get a code number off mine and e-mail Ted Weber (RIP). And he told me about the unmarked Emi's that Boogie used.
They're built in Houston where the humidity is like 200%, you won't have a problem with the neck, unless you leave it in the trunk of your car year round.
I have two Robin Raiders ( think Reverse bodied Medley). I absolutely love the necks, they're not as thin the late 80's Ibanez Wizards, but they're pretty thin. Jumbo frets, highly figured birdseye or curly maple necks in most cases, swamp ash bodies. Kahler Steeler floyd rose type tremolos...
I wouldn't take it there... Bill Ussery is the best amp tech in Austin, but he always has a 2-3 week wait. Contact me if you want his number. He works on Clapton and Gary Moore's amps just to name drop. # 2 would be Killertone, but he's on tour with BOB right now, doesn't get back till middle of...
Just saying I was under the impression that that particular tube was not built for High gain Amp heads... Like I said, could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time.
I was there when He got the first Rev.1, I played it for about 30 minutes, Then I played a JSX, it sounded better and I'm no Peavey fan, played the Cobra and Dragon, they both sounded better, played the Mesa Stiletto and it sounded better. For the money the Kranks are going for, there are a lot...
Jannick is a blowhole, and the idea of him still in the band really turns me off and turns my stomach. He even does solo's from the older CD's that Murray or Smith used to play, kinda lame if you ask me. Plus the whole overshowman thing just kinda ruins it for me.
Just got another Studio Pre. Used to have one a few years back with a 2:90 and it sounded better than any Mesa Boogie Head I've ever owned ( 3 MKIII's one with the C+ mod, a MKIV, A DC 10, 2 Dual Recto's, one Triple Recto...). More or less got it for a back to my .50cal+, but may use it and turn...
