I think you are confusing it with the output transformer. Factory C+ 100/60W also had the 105PT. Or X101 for that matter.

I haven’t found any pictures of the back of their amps. So this is only assumptions. Most likely they are factory +’s and not C upgraded to C+(+). They do have the IIC gain boost faceplates. But I haven’t seen any pull deep faceplates with presence up front. I guess Mesa didn’t bother to make...

Yep I’ve seen them. And there are no mentioning of Marshall amps which you’d think if they actually did use them. I have a 1960 cab that is labeled 260W, but have the original G12T-75 speakers, dated 1984. But I haven’t seen them mislabeled the other way around. It’s possible I guess. I think...

Never seen any interviews stating that, but I’d like to see if you can find them ?? However Kirk said this after the release of Puppets.

No, that was only for some solos according to Flemming Rasmussen.

That’s correct, but I think the reissue have a different Q width than the original one.

Yes, they started using Boogie amps on Puppets.

That’s probably correct for his parts. But I’m assuming we are talking about the rhythm guitars here, which only James tracked.

I don’t see anybody being butthurt about that their $10K Mark IIC+ maybe wasn’t used to be honest. It could be a Line 6 for all I care. I’ve had a bunch of Mark III’s, still have my Mark III Coliseum, which is killer. As well as IIC+/++’s. But the fact that Bob Rock talks about it for 5 seconds...

Try Aphex EQF-2. They were originally called B&B, but Aphex bought the company and changed the name, but they are exactly the same. Metallica used them a lot back in the day.

That picture is not from the studio. It’s from Orion fest where they had some of their old gear on display for the audience. That was to show that the same amp that literally says MKIIC++ on front can be seen on pictures from the studio. Yeah, looking at amp settings alone won’t get you the...

Justice came out in 1988, the Triaxis came out in 1991.

Well, there you go, another thing he got wrong. I’m sure he meant B&B, because that’s a big part of the sound of both Puppets and Justice. It’s all In Flemming Rasmussens pretty detailed notes from the sessions. As well as in pics from the studio. It can be seen on the TBA sessions as well.

Never seen anything about them using BBE sonic maximizer. But they used B&B Aphex EQF-2 parametrics. And Hetfield still had those in the live rack together with the ADA MQ-1 for the black album tour.

I don’t find that weird really. He must have been involved in hundreds of recording sessions through the years. Must be impossible to remember every little detail. Maybe he confuses it with Sykes who used Mark III’s. This guy also seem to be of the idea that Bob doesn’t really remember...

Sell your mark IIC+: the black album was a mark 3.

I just think Bob Rock have a hard time remembering the details 30 years afterwards. I’d rather trust the pictures from the sessions showing the Mark IIC++ and Mark IV amps. As well as the 1991 interview with Hetfield saying he used the same Mark II he used on earlier albums. And if I remember...

My IIC+ almost done at boogie (service & ++)

They were $250 a pair late last year at least. I bought 6 of them for my IIC+ Coliseum that Mike worked on.

They are not listed on the website, you’ll have to ask for them.

Ask Mike B while it’s still there. Mesa still has some Sylvania STR415’s. But they are not cheap, $250 a pair.

    JP2C

I’ve never played a JP2C. But I think it would have been cool if there were a SimulClass option. This guy pairs it with a SimulClass power amp and to me it sounds better.
