Not sure how handy you are on working on amps, but the "mod" to switch KT88s to EL34's is stupid simple.
Just desolder (or snip) one leg of a piggybacked resistor for the bias pot. (I used shrinkwrap to make sure it didn't rattle around).
If you ever want to go back to stock, just re-solder...
Hey Mike. I posted this in another thread, but figured I'd re-post, and expand upon my thoughts here:
While I'm not a Shiva expert, I have pretty good experience in the different models. Here's some info.
Standard EL34 model. If you're digging the Justin Derrico Tone, this is where you'd want...
While I'm not a Shiva expert, I have pretty good experience in the different models. Here's some info, in no particular order:
- The gain structure on the 20th is identical to the Regular EL34 - IF you have the "mode" switch dis-engaged. Same basic gain taper. But activating the gain "mode"...
That's actually what I'm doing currently. I have two identical PT2 Pedaltrains. But I was hoping to condense to one board, sell off my duplicate pedals, and cash in.
I'll be honest. The one thing holding me back from ordering the 16x28 right now is the fact that the soft-case that you get is 2" too big on the top and bottom. If it was a snug fit, I'd buy this thing immediately.
Is that insane?
I don't really need the ATA case, but I'm going to be...
So, I'm in the market for a new pedalboard. I've decided to get a nice Trailer Trash ProSeries board. Lately, I've been doing a ton of fill-in gigs with a wide variety of cover bands, as well as a lot more studio sessions at a local recording studio. So I want a board that can cover all bases...
The Duende really was phenomenal. I just couldn't justify keeping it solely for a studio/practice amp. I built a Tweed Deluxe 15W clone with my dad, and decided to just keep that for super low volume gigs, since it was a combo (and sounded great). But I miss the Duende at times.
The Duende...
I noticed this as well. I used some digital calipers, and they actually WERE really close. Perhaps it's just a percieved thing, based on flexibility of one batch to another?
VERY cool! I love how it's very undetectable from the front. Steathy.
One comment - if it were *my* guitar, that pickguard would drive me nuts. Doesn't seem to match the contours of the cutaway/horn properly. That guitar deserves a fresh pickguard, cut to precision fit.
Yeah Bob, you can get tons of 90's and early 00's Standards and Classics in that price range, maybe even less. And they're great guitars.
I tried to convince myself for a while that my LP was just too big and clunky for gigging. And then at a recent gig, I brought my 01 Standard with me...
