Bon Jovi: "QUICK!!! Toss me another pair of freshly laundered, relaxed-fit leather pants NOW!!!! I've sweated through these because I did jumping jacks and other assorted on-stage calisthenics for the past 8 songs in a row."
hthomas, can you explain a bit more.
I've always been curious about these. I totally get how different caps sound different. I did an experiment in my amp, switching from Polyprop, to Polyester, and there was a noticeable difference. For sure.
But with guitar tone controls "smoother" and...
I don't have too much knowledge on the 80's and 70's LPs, but I can give a brief rundown starting in the 1990s.
Lets skip all the Customs, Studios, Juniors, and Specials, and stick to the USA-Line "Standard" based LPs.
***Weight-relief started around 1982/1983. Every Gibson USA Les Paul...
Warmoth makes some great stuff. Finishes are top notch. Neck pocket fit is always great. Warmoth never claims that their necks are ready to go "out of the box" - they always need a proper final nut slotting and fret dressing.
This detail is why a lot of people rate their Warmoth builds as...
For most of the cover bands in my area, it's the norm.
Not sure if it's been mentioned yet in the bazillion posts above, but have you guys considered COST? Lots of the bands I know do it as a full time job. Would you rather split the cash 4 ways, or 5 ways? A backing track works for free...

They are reeeee-diculous, and add so much more beef, twang, and mids to any tele setup.
My band Supermassive http://www.supermassivenj.com is playing at The Blackthorn Irish pub on Route 46 in Parsippany, NJ tonight from 10-2. Come on down, hear some tunes, oogle at my Les Paul, and hear my cranked Bogner XTC
ALSO... I'll also be debuting my Bogner Blue pedal, at gigging volumes...
The fact that it can handle hot, line level FX loop signals, is true bypass, and has a true analog dry thru, is worth the pice of admission alone. Not sure if there's another delay in its price range that has all those features.
Yeah, unfortunately, this situation is the rule, and not the exception... Especially if you are a non-headlining, original band.
The personal mixer, IEM's are a solution, but in my experience in an original band, playing gigs with 2-4 acts, you have about 10 minutes to set up. 15 if you're...
Welcome to the Jungle, baby!
My wife was hesitant at first, but then she really got into the role of Axl!
I'd like to thank Matt (EWSEthan) for letting me use his Les Paul as most excellent photo prop!
