    The Duncan JB's flubby lows...

I personally gel with the JB more than the Custom. I don't find either tighter or punchier than the other. The JB has the stuffy low mids, but the Custom has the thuddy lows. In my case, I found it easier to dial in some aggression to the JB than to the Custom with the right boost. But each to...

    The Duncan JB's flubby lows...

I don't find the JB loose. What I do find is the low mids in it can be a bit stuffy, and the attack isn't as emphatic as, say, a Duncan Distortion or Black Winter. Easily "fixed" by choosing the right boost with it, IME. And very rewarding too, as I find the EQ of the JB is a bit more...

    Bridge Preference

I like Gibson-style bridges where they're a bit raised off the body. That's what I'm used to playing and most comfortable with. I also like wraparounds as long as the intonation is adjustable. I don't dislike low-profile Fender-esque hardtails like Hipshot, Gotoh, etc., but I'm not as...

What would sound best:V30, Hesu Demon and 75H-Creamback in 212 vertical

I'd say both the Demon and the Creamback H are fizzier than the V30.

White, zebra, or black pickups for my new LP Modern Lite?

    Awesome! Thank you!

White, zebra, or black pickups for my new LP Modern Lite?

Any thoughts? I kinda want to move that 498T to another guitar. Since I'm moving one pickup, I might as well go the whole nine yards. I'm getting a Suhr SSH+ for the bridge and probably a Duncan Alnico 2 Pro for the neck. What color do you guys think would look best? I'm leaning the least...

Oh, boy. Slipknot. And Nu Metal in general.

    New Dream Theater song.

The production is killer. The song was groovin... but then the vocals kicked in. I don't think the song is note overload at all. It's not even a fast song. It's just the vocals kill the vibe of the song for me. But the tones are fantastic. I'll give them that. The drums sound killer.

Hipshot bridges and tail pieces .. anyone with experience?

Yeah, I get ya. The saddles are chunky and limit the range a bit. I'm not sure if it's a common problem with Gibsons in general, but mine was like that, but I have started using wound 3rds, so that helps. But I had that issue with the 6th string as well when I was tuning down to B with a 60, so...

Hipshot bridges and tail pieces .. anyone with experience?

I like Aluminum as far as Les Paul hardware goes. That's kinda *the* classic Les Paul sound. FWIW, I like the sound of the stock aluminum API Nashville bridge in my Les Paul better than the Schaller STM with the brass roller saddles I used to have. I also have the Graphtech Resomax bridge, but...

    Marshall Valvestate 8100

That's interesting. As far as the circuit, I'm pretty sure it's diodes hitting that tube first. The fact that it's volume that you're getting leads me to believe that it's either towards the last stages of gain or not in the gain stages at all and doing something else.

    Marshall Valvestate 8100

Personally, I don't know how much the preamp tube makes. It's very solid-state sounding, but that's kind of its charm. Great amp for 90's Metal.

    Suhr SSH+?

That's pretty fancy. I wonder what the gauss is on them compared to the stuff that Duncan and Gibson use. My Aldrich peaks about as high as my 498T when recording DI's, but the Aldrich is higher DCR. Not that DCR equals output, I know that. But there must be something going on with that magnet...

    Suhr SSH+?

So the general concensus is it's brighter and more attack-y? BTW, I emailed Suhr about it, and they tell me it's the same "Special" Alnico on the SSH+ and all of their pickups that use A5. I thought it'd be important to say that because they don't mention it being special on their site.

    Suhr SSH+?

Yeah, I was kind of undecided about what to get for the neck position too. I kinda like the Duncan '59. How does the Thornbucker compare?

    NGD - It's super light!

Thank you! The Tribute actually has a flamed Maple neck, LOL. I don't think it was uncommon for these models to have some figuring for the neck. Mine isn't like AAAAA super flamed Maple, but it's nice to have some figuring in there.
