Thank you!
I have had good experiences with Gibson. No bad QC issues from either of mine even if they're lower-end. My Tribute has a few minor rough spots on the finish under the pickguard, but nothing bad. My Modern Lite I haven't found any issues with it either. I love that they're plek'd...
I didn't try the polepiece thing, but I don't really hate it how it is now. I just want to squeeze a little more from it, and 99% of the time, I like pickups without the load of a tone knob better.
The thing is I find the 498T is kinda very rough-around-the-edges kinda vibe. I love that. Like...
I like both, honestly. But I think I'm going to remove the tone knob from the 490R to squeeze out a bit more brightness from it.
I really love the 498T. Years ago, I used to have one from the 90's that a friend gifted to me that I just dropped into whatever guitar I got that had weak bridge...
Thank you! I'm the other way around. I'm a LP kinda guy, and whenever I picked up my Strat, I just couldn't help but think, "man, I just like the sound of my LP so much more", LOL. So I traded it in, and it worked out!
I don't think the BB Pros are an upgrade so much as a side-grade. I like BB Pros way better than BB1/2/3, but I'll take a 498T over them most of the time.
I definitely hear the chirp in the clips I've heard of it. I'm not sure I hate it, though. Part of what I like about the Aldrich is that it's fatter than the JB it replaced, but the attack is more pronounced as well, I feel. Did you find it lower output or about the same?
They're great, but they're a bit expensive for what they are. A few years ago, you could get something close from Gibson for like 2/3 of the price. Luckily, I didn't pay full price for mine.
Here she is with her sister.
LOL.
The Strat I brought in for trade was actually Inca Silver initially, but since it's nitro, it had yellowed a bit. The guy from the store told me that I'd be trading same color guitars, but nah. It was just the mojo of nitro, LOL.
To be honest, that Strat was a looker... it just didn't...
Man, I'm loving this thing!
So the story is I decided I just was never gonna love the tone of my Strat, so I traded it in at the store for this. This was on sale, so I didn't have to pay full price. I feel like the full price new is way too steep, but in reality, these are great guitars. Mine...
It's funny how Fluff was brought up, but he's the epitome of 15 minutes of talking demo per 30 seconds of playing nowadays. And I'm not even exaggerating.
Gotcha, thank you. Seems like I'd like it, LOL. I like the Aldrich in my Les Paul, but my other two guitars are a bit fuller-sounding than my Les Paul, so maybe something leaner than the Aldrich might not be so bad.
I'm loving the Aldich! I'm wondering how the SSH+ compares. Is it just an underwound Aldrich? What does that mean? Slightly less output and slightly more open top-end? Does it run on the same "Special" Alnico 5? Does it do well in non-Strat-types? Anybody got any clips of it doing teh MeTulZ...
