I think a Recto sounds fine at modest volumes, though some have a touchy volume knob. Bypassing the loop IMHO is key though. The loop (even with nothing in it) has a negative impact until the amp is up loud.
Otherwise, I know this might not be popular, but I think some of the capture/profile...
Sounds good. I'm more of a V30 fan (tighter, more aggressive sounding speaker to me), so I tend to use the 1960AV over the AC.
I had a newer AX cab that sounded nice, but was a bit more "papery"(?) or stiff compared to the AC. Not sure if it's a speaker difference or a break-in difference (or...
Finally caved and ended up with another Rev G Recto once again. Love it.
Clip 1: the actual Recto into an OS Recto cab, SM57. OD 808 in front.
Clip 2: Cortex capture of the amp and OD808, then amplified into a Marshall 1960AV (my typical playing rig) and recorded with an SM57.
Nu Metal at its best had great energy, very catchy riffing over really talented drumming and bass. Nearly all of them had terrible front men, though, that made it just embarrassing.
These guys have been making fun of their fans and laughing about being sell outs since the 90s. This type of destination tour seemed like the ultimate expression of that, and I kinda feel for the fans that spent a lot of money to get there, but it's kinda funny that Tool delivered on the joke.
I guess the sets were unique if they weren't identical to other sets, even if some individual songs repeated.
I dunno. This whole destination concert thing struck me as kinda funny. I mean, this is the band that wrote Hooker with a Penis, so can their big fans really be surprised by this type...
I went through Jason at Drum City Guitar Land. I don't think they sell direct. Most communications went through Jason but I think towards the end some of the Schecter guys reached out directly to confirm things.
I've ordered twice from Schecter: complete ground up custom orders (8-string Telecasters with Floyd Rose etc).
They were great. Asked questions to make sure they understood what I wanted. Actually tested some thing first before they agreed to do it (theyd never done some of the things I asked...
