I recently picked up a Mako Mak 4 I'm really happy with. Certainly hits in the high gain department with great cleans to boot. But the crunch is one of my favorite channels on that thing which I was not expecting. Anyway, with a $2000 budget you have plenty of room from a great tube power-amp to...
Great stuff. I am really tempted by the black dogs... They're just sooo much more expensive and I doubt the price increase is proportional to the increase in tone. I have been looking for a good alternative to these that aren't bkp in terms of output and clarity. I also got a little off track...
Thanks guys,
I was under the impression that all pickups with PAF in their name ('57 classics being gibson's PAF) were relatively comparable, at least compared to non-PAF pickups but I'm discovering that is not the case.
I'm really looking for something versatile but centered over hard rock tones
I was thinking of getting away from the gibson pick-ups for this one. Any experience with dimarzio PAF pros or the 36th anniversary?
The internet seems to be really high on BKP's, I can't imagine them being worth that much more money than a good set of dimarzios or duncans. With that said the...
So I'm trying to decide what pickups I want in a custom guitar I'm getting built. It'll be a tele shape, ash body, maple top. I'm thinking maybe something slightly hotter than the '57 classics which I have in my SG. I'm looking for neck and bridge pickup suggestions.
Yeah I don't think the Mesa uses a tube in the fx loop, could be wrong though. I regularly run a 2880 loop pedal in the loop and have no sound issues. I'm not missing anything am I? I don't need anything plugged into the FX send? Do I ned to do anything with the channel volumes on the head or...
I'll look into that. It does seem like a grounding issue since it's like a super exaggerated version of the hum you get as normal noise with a head. It also seems I have zero low end through the loop, especially when compared to when I run it through my power amp. Same tubes though.
Hiss...
Noob question. So I have been trying to run my preamp through the power-section of my mark IV and getting a ton of noise when I'm not playing. I have it running into fx return, then turn the mains and standby on and turn the channel volume of the head to zero and the master at 3-4. Am I missing...
I'm starting to think I'm going crazy or being super paranoid.
I recently got a Mako Mak 4 and VHT mailed to me through fed-ex in a road read 6u road case. First off they wrecked the road case, the post with the rack mount screws was ripped from the side of the case so it's no longer...
I'm curious about this too. All the clips I've heard seem sort of fuzzy/muffled. I don't know if that's an artifact from the recording or not. Seems like a great deal on paper but I wouldn't want to be stuck with a "metal" amp.
They were the first band I ever saw live  . I miss some of their earlier heavier stuff but I'm glad they aren't releasing the same album over and over.
