Sounds like you may have the polarity switched somewhere along the way. If you watch closely do the lazy speakers seem to move inward? You could test with a 9v battery, placing the + of the Battery on the tip of the cable, and the - to the sleeve. If the loud speakers move out, and the others...
I've seen some good deals on the original VHT cabs on the used GC site. My personal favorite though for a D60/120 is an Orange loaded with celestion V30's and 75's in an X.
Thanks for the common sense lesson about not blocking vents and the physics of heat rising. We definitely didn't cover that in 3rd grade, good to know.
I'm narrowing it down to the Randall RT250 and the Fryette 2/90/2. The Randall seems to vent side to rear and the Fryette front to back with...
So if you're mounting something like a 2U tube power amp in a rack with a 2U processor do you need more than a 4U rack? Is heat dissipation really a concern or more of an internet forum phenomena. I couldn't find anything in the Randall, Fryette, or Mesa manuals saying there needed to be extra...
I'm with JD. I was in a similar situation with a back injury and a love for the Les Paul Custom. Hated PRS as all I'd ever seen locally were tobacco sunburst McCartys and strangely spec'd Custom 24's. Check in to the guitars he recommended and see if there's anything that you dig.
I can play all day with the Shiva cleans knobs at noon, bright switch on, nothing else. Just don't like the distortion channel. On the other hand I have an 11R that I use on the Ecstasy Blue channel all the time.... just wondering about getting them all in the same box....
If you're not using PT to record, you should be able to at least get it to load for swapping patches and using the editor. Haven't tried the HD Pod, but played pretty much every version before it, and was never impressed. Messed around with the 11R for about a half hour and really liked it...
Whatever they did to the redesign pretty much left the clean channel the same, but brought a lot more range to the higher gain sounds. Order it stock, live with it for a bit, and if you need some EL34's pop em in with a resistor change.
^^ This was good advice and a fun experiment. I think it smoothed out the overall gain structure, reducing some of the punch, and added a little compression.
I also had a chance to run it through about 12 other 4x12's side by side and ended up really digging a Randall with G12H-100's. I...
Just wondering how the process goes and what I can expect to pay.
I have a 20th Shiva that I'd like to get some changes made to either the EQ or Gain structure. Seems no matter what I plug in to it guitar or speaker wise, the gain sounds have this hollow mid range, kind of like blowing in to...
I think different styles of music is key. With an amp like this you are partly selling the idea that tone is in the wallet, so get a player or two that isn't a monster going balls out a thousand miles an hour. Play slow, arpegiate a chord or two, let one note ring out for a while.... that...
