You need to try out the G&L Tributes, I have the L2500 and I have a Sterling Ray34, The G&L is a whole lot better. The Sterling is a great instrument, but feels NOTHING like my EBMM Stingray, The G&L is closer in feel and tone to the US models than the Sterlings. ;)
I just got a G&L Tribute L2500, I can't recommend it enough, one of the best imports I've ever had, WAY better than the Sterling I have. The pick-ups and preamp are the same as are in the US models. fantastic playing and sounding instruments. Can be had used in the $500 range.
