I prefer House of Lords. Really, if the mix was better, louder guitars, less keys this could have been really good. The keys in this mix kills it though.
They've been touring together, lynch mob and dokken. They get together for 3-4 songs a night I think Don wants to play his Levin songs (and personally gets along better with John) and George wants his LM songs.
The singer sounds great! I'm glad that he found someone that can do Oni/Robert justice. I'm on a laptop, so it's hard to hear the tone, but his playing sounds good. He's always been hit and miss, but I give him credit for always playing at the edge. When it works, he kills it.
What months do you have pre 1987? I have every issue from 87 until they folded into Guitar World. I have maybe 12 issue pre 87, but always looking to round it out.
I always loved Carcass and seeing them live showed me that keeping it simple on the bass in DM, works. Everything comes through the mix so much better, when it's just 1/8 notes playing along to the kick.
I've had both. Started with the 2, but when compared side by side with my friends 1, I preferred that sound. The 2 didn't do the in-between sounds as well IMO.
I know that I'm probably in the minority, but my favorite is Diver Down. Hang Em High is perfect. I love the first five and when you are cranking the volume they all sound great, but I feel like DD has that tone without having to crank the stereo.
This. The plexi's are just for show and aren't connected to the speakers. The 2210 is the spare, as there weren't any cables going into it. He did mention clean, but I didn't think the Jub was channel switching?
I only buy used from GC. They have a return policy, which is better than eBay. I've bought some guitars that needed major setups, but the price was amazing (due to the crap setup).
I loved his first record with Ozzy and it is the one I go to when I want to hear Oz. Such a great find and he was so mature in his playing at that age. It's a great story of his as to how he reinvented himself to stand out.
Similar to Yngwie and other shredders, the need to get faster and...
The whole record is Linn as is Hysteria. To me Pyro sounds more 'real' than Hysteria, which has the second worst drum sound in rock history, only to St Anger.
Even though he's alive, I still remember how I felt reading the interview in GFTPM when Jason Becker announced that he had ALS. I'm so happy for him that he is still alive and is still recording, but it's still terribly sad to see such a virtuoso guitarist struck down so young.
yeah, the drug use in that second family was no joke. Sad. The later, it was more fun (in my opinion), because we were all super straight laced, short hair office white collar music nerds (like Rush) that happened to play death metal. We ended up having that guy join. He lasted about a year...
Like most here it's always the drummers. A few for me. Death metal band late 90's, early 2000's. We're into Melodeath and prog, so take Arch Enemy and add Meshuggah break downs.
First drummer, lives with mom who is raging alcoholic (the wannabe cool mom). We're in the basement, my whole...
