I didn't for a long time, I do now. I play with a medium/high action. With the tailpiece down low, you get a big angle across the bridge. I found I broke strings too easily. To reduce the angle, I could raise the tailpiece; but: I have heard of guys stripping the tailpiece posts (the wood...
Yes. My tastes have went from low to medium to medium high...When my '73 Les Paul custom frets became just so wore out that I couldn't take it anymore, I thought about what frets to use, keeping in my my trend towards higher action, and ended up using Dunlop 6105's (those are the tall and...
I had a Boogie Tremoverb bias modded, and ran it in low 30's ma....but if memory serves me right it wasn't set from the factory near as cold as the 5150. I had a cold biased 5150 sitting next to a properly biased TVerb, and *poof* I ebayed the Tverb. That preference would have been even more...
I've had this 5150 a long time.... even though I am educated in electronics, and am a electric utility grid operator by profession- I paid a local tech to install a bias pot. Didn't play with the bias much then, assuming he'd set it correctly. Then the next set of tubes, I checked bias and...
Awesome.
I have a 2204. I recently replaced ALL the caps (except the PI fizz cap, 47pf - that I'm waiting on a 100pf replacement to try). The EFX loop is like the one thing this amp doesn't have...and most reviews about an added loop are mixed...
I may have to try this. Keep us updated on this...
I loved mine. I also have a 5150, and ultimately- I kept the 5150 and sold the Tremoverb. I know they are different amps, but I was doing similar (hi gain) things with both of them and I preferred the 5150. I thought the Tremoverb did have some mid-gain and clean sounds that sounded better than...
I have 57's, E906, i5, sm58 and AT4050. The 57 is my favorite on a loud, distorted guitar cab. I only recently got the i5. As cheap as these mics are, I figured if there's something better than the 57, I want it. It has a bit more direct/forward feel, and a little brighter than the 57.
I am...
Here's a take of mine using the HBE Germaniqa into my Marshall 2204 head. It's the lead guitar that is this combo, and also the clean guitar - same combo- just with the guitar volume rolled down.

Never mixed then in a single cab- but I have a cab loaded with each type. I like them together; they each have their strengths and weaknesses. The V-30's are allot louder than the GB's - this is true.
The dynamic delay.... I mainly use delay lenghts of dotted 1/8 notes- for leads. If I'm running a stereo rig, I like the ping pong delay.
I use this formula for dotted 1/8 note:
60/BPM x .75 = ms
example: for a song with 140 beats per minute tempo
60/140 x .75 = 321ms
I love the Germania too. The Germ has 2 modes...
Here's a clip: http://www.mrbobo.com/music/clips/bobo-wtf-outroclip.mp3
(lead =modern, rhythm=vintage)
This song, I used the "vintage" setting for the lead break in the middle; it is a clearer, less bassy sound than modern (I also used less gain...

I think the TAD power tubes sound more musical than the Svets. I prefer them in my Mesa too.
I never tried running ALL Tung-Sol pre's, but at least try them in V1.
