But I swear on a Facebook group or somewhere, the guy who did them posted.. and he had pics of pretty much all of them. was hoping to match up the pattern...

According to James Brown, they did white Vinyl & sprayed them. 16 Striped heads & 4x12's. And he can't remember if any of the striped heads were dummies.
In the early 90's Eddie used striped 5150's on stage (I'm guessing just dummy backline). There are pix from an ad, as well as footage from the MTV music awards and the free Texas show (I think that was '93?)

I grew up on 1 Hum, one vol guitars - using the volume knob for cleans. Went to H/S a few decades ago, and that's my preference.. but there is nothing like plugging into a single hum guitar and cranking the volume, and letting it rip.
That was local to me a few weeks ago (CT store).. not a super common configuration. Those VHT are flexible but can be a bit dry & unforgiving.
Never hurts to have a good Marshall though
