I've never seen proof that Gibson actually sued ESP. Perhaps there have been cease and desist letters sent over the years, who knows?
But the word in the internet is that ESP stopped making MX guitars entirely, even in Japan. I believe that was during the whole "play authentic" / Dean lawsuit...
Bram, what exactly is it you're looking to have built?
I'm an ESP guy, and have a few CS guitars, but I've never ordered one new. An option to consider is finding a small builder make you the guitar. I've worked with a friend who builds guitars on several guitars over the years and have been...
I have a few other guitars from this builder, but they were always builds he had in the works. This is the first one that I did the specs. Got it last February.
White one is rumored to be coming and is, perhaps, a GC exclusive.
I like explorers, but this one doesn't do anything for me. Maybe if I didn't own an ESP MX I'd feel differently.
The bolt-on US models were being built at Iconic Guitars, at least for a while. I have a friend who works there and he built the Warlock models that Metallica presented to the kid from Stranger Things.
Of other interest, here's the back of one of my full-thickness guitars. This one is from 2007. I believe they've started doing the belly cut on the FT guitars now, as well, but not back in 2007 or 10 when mine are from.
Yeah, the JH-3 and the Trucksters were the same way. There was a small run of E-II Eclipses that were 4-knob and flat cutaway for a Facebook group.
Thanks gents. Solos for those who mentioned. The green is a 5-footer. Was refinished by a previous owner after taking a hit from a mic-stand...
The flatter cutaway would be on the "USA" body (not the models made in California, the USA designation was when they swapped to the flatter horn and 3 knobs in around 05 or so.)
You want a photo of Eclipses? You've come to the right place. ?
