Boy, isn’t this the truth. It’s a lot of smoke and mirrors. It’s sad that most guitarist can’t even install a new pickup, let alone bias or troubleshoot their own amp.

That live record is great and I agree, those tones are really good and fit the music perfectly.

I can’t take the guys voice for more than 10 seconds without transforming into a demon while bezerker mode engages.

Simply greed. The $1750.00 price is where a good used IV should be. Rev A/B ….. whatever. Those amps all sound killer as far as I can tell. Not $3500.00 killer. If it was owned by the player from Fates Warning……….maybe? ??????

Man, I have to disagree strongly here. Bland in the mids was not my experience. I played a DR103 and 2 Hiwatt cabs with fanes for many years. That amp with those cabs was perfect in the mids and punched through our Gorilla drummer without breaking a sweat.

Sounds like you used an “audio” taper 1meg alpha pot. Simple fix would be to buy an “linear” taper pot and wire in the way you have it. Problem solved more than likely.

Yeah, I’ll admit I haven’t tried many of the newer offerings, but I’m completely satisfied with the Sweetsound. That unit Carl is using sure looks nice. Good luck with the sale!

Been through quite a few and this one stuck. Had an older Fulltone unit with the pedal built in and that was nice too.

Yeah, I’ve always liked Super Distortions. I’ve had many older ones and loved all of them. The key is to get the pickup height adjusted correctly. Too close to the strings and the pickup becomes overwhelming and messy sounding. You have to lower it to really dial it in and make it sing.

If your actually going into the city… A. Be careful. B. Do not leave ANYTHING of value unattended in your car. The places mentioned above are solid options.

I’ve thought of doing this. I’d say in a direct line, it will travel a mile to a mile and a half easily. Depends on your surroundings I’d suppose too.

Hmmmm. Kinda harsh, but your certainly entitled to your opinion. There is only so much space to create something “new” in the guitar pedal world. Since you wind pickups…… how about the guys trying to do exacting copies of PAF’s and asking thousands of dollars for them? That is true robbery.

I don’t have a problem with you, or this amp. In the scope of life and such, guitars and amps mean nothing. I don’t think this guy meant any harm and I didn’t take his post as being insulting.
