    Anyone ever convert a IIC+ to a IIC+ coliseum?

    I've slaved all the Marks into the M180 I had, it was maaaassive. And easy- it sets up in seconds. IMO destroying two perfectly good amps to try & make a frankenstein is much more difficult and probably not worth it in the long run. I would recommend rack mounting the C+ along with the D180...

    My Awesome Transaction List!

    @Ryan990 HUGE stamp of approval for Ryan! We had a trade deal that involved the gear coming to me getting damaged in shipping (by no fault of his) and Ryan was a rockstar in working with me to get everything sorted out including a lengthy insurance claim. High levels of communication & trust...

    Fletcher Dragge, Ibanez RG

    Sounds like they need to do a signature model. I bet it'd sell.

    Another new amp day…lol

    I had a 1W, a 5W and a 20W. They were all rippers, though the 1W was (obviously) crazy quiet. The 5W was my favorite, IIRC it was Class A? Killer amp for the money. IIRC Mike Fortin designed.

    1x12 Recommendations - Ported? Oversized?

    Deep diving a little I agree that the Mesa front ported cabs (thiele & widebody) don't sound like an open back, however they are still a rock cab - not a metal cab. There is more low end push from the porting but it's a loose low end, not tight like with a sealed cab. Kind of like the difference...

    Celestion thump

    If you set it up as I described above, it's crushing. Otherwise the 75s get lost.

    Celestion thump

    Ted if it were me, I'd do something like.. - Main amp to the current cab. - Slave out to one of your Mesa power amps, having it run the new more ass kicking cab. - Adjust volume to taste. Having a power amp running the second cab where you can balance volumes is the way, and negates most other...

    1x12 Recommendations - Ported? Oversized?

    Keep in mind my only experience is with Boogie cabs, but I've had them all. A main question here is what you're playing. If it's hard rock or metal that needs a tight low end, IMO you're not going to be happy with anything but a sealed cab. In that case the cube-shaped Mesa Recto 112 cabs are...

    Late 90s/early 2000 Mesa Triple rectifier experts....

    I would not recommend it. Couple reasons. 1) The transformers aren't rated to take the idle current draw of big bottles. 2) Outside of the bedroom, 6L6 & EL34 just sound better for guitar frequencies than big bottles. Also as the others have said, leave it stock & try various boosts. This...

    Late 90s/early 2000 Mesa Triple rectifier experts....

    There's really nothing significant that changes in the Rev G lineage. You're going to find amp to amp variances like with all the older stuff, that said Rectos tend to be more consistent than Marks here. The one thing to know is that with the Gs, Triples are tighter than Duals.

    Talk to me about the Les Paul Moderns and Supremes.

    I wanted to circle back to this thread. In the last month I've had a chance to play two LP Moderns and two LP Supremes- all new production in stores. I've also been able to AB them with various other Standard & Custom LPs in the stores, as well as two Adam Jones standards. To sum it up I liked...

    Les Paul style guitar with Floyd: LP Axcess, ESP Eclipse, or something else?

    So yeah in the E-II / ESP SS range, or LTD. The ESPs are going to have consistently much better QC than a LP, but they don't cry like a good LP. (key being good, they're not all!) That said if you're going active PUPs that's definitley more in ESP's wheel house. This is what you really want...

    Les Paul style guitar with Floyd: LP Axcess, ESP Eclipse, or something else?

    Really low action potential is one reason I prefer Kahlers to Floyds, FWIW..

    Les Paul style guitar with Floyd: LP Axcess, ESP Eclipse, or something else?

    Key question, what price point are you looking at? ESP / LTD has a number of full thickness, and IIRC ESP USA are all full thickness although they are weight relieved. Theyr'e rare AF, but there are a few full thickness ESP Hanneman Eclipses out there with a Kahler and 81/85. Thin neck, though.

    IIC++ Reissue vs JP2C?

    I run a Coli owner's group, currently a guy in Chicago has a purple stripe III++ Coli for sale. FWIW... Also the IIB Colis are one of the loudest amps ever created. Back to the thread though, the thing about the JP is that tone aside, until you get the channel volumes up over 1:30 or so they...

    IIC++ Reissue vs JP2C?

    Well, there are a long list of amps that sound heavier & sit better in a mix than a Mark. :p Unfortunatley I love the feels of a good Mark, despite knowing most Peaveys will track & sit live better.. What stripe was yours? Most blues are ear death (though I did have one good one, a 1999, so...

    IIC++ Reissue vs JP2C?

    I've found the Baby Fives and the JP to be the most bedroom volume friendly while still having a pretty saturated tone. I can totally see how shred mode would have to be re-EQd and left there to work well. TBH I never dug that deep into shred as I'm not playing in low tunings.

    IIC++ Reissue vs JP2C?

    Decide for yourself! In the studio you can really make them all sound pretty much the same, and you'd have a hard time making any analog setup sound as good as a good digital model these days. In the room however, the C+ RI is the first one that IMO cops anything near the feel of the OGs...

    IIC++ Reissue vs JP2C?

    Man that differs a lot with the IIIs. I just got my 11th (?) III, a SG red stripe. I'm running the presence at 10 and the 6600 about 2/3 up, and it's perfect with no ear fatigue. I've had a couple like this. I've also had ones that destroy the ears. There's a lot of swing in the presence amp...
