I've had one for about a year now. Agree that the pickups are waaaay too hot, and I generally go for pretty high output pickups in my guitars. Plays great, I wouldn't mind a lower radius on the fretboard but that's just a matter of preference. Really comfortable guitar overall.

I've always missed Petrucci's tone on the earlier DT albums. Just isn't as fluid and doesn't cut nearly as well anymore.

I have two newer production LP's, a 2014 Traditional and a 2016 R9. Love them both but I had to play through a whole mess of them to find the ones I liked. I also have two PRS SC-58's. As much as I love the Gibson's, the PRS's are better.

This is actually an adjustable setting on all of the CAA amps including the PT100. There's a negative feedback control on the rear panel, which essentially adjusts the sensitivity and sag of the amp - the lower you go, the more touch sensitive the amp becomes.

A Mark layered with a Recto can sound huge if you EQ them both properly.

Charvel CS makes some great guitars, but I haven't played one yet that I'd keep over my Luxxtone.

I second the PT100 recommendation, but in that power range the Egnater Rebel 30 is the closest thing I can think of.

On newer tubes, I've always felt the Ruby 7025's are the most consistent. But nothing touches the old Amperex Bugle Boy's if you can find em.

I have the \m/'s in my Custom 24 Floyd and I love them. They're a hot pickup in the Dimarzio vein, thick bottom end and really drive an amp hard.

I just picked up a Luxxtone loaded with their custom Arcane set, and I'm blown away by the pickups.

Grab a Suhr Koko Boost, voicing switch all the way to the left, boost knob around noon and mid knob around 1-3:00 to taste and you'll get there.
