I was using mine with a v30 filled cab. That could have been the problem right there... I sold it before I started getting other cabs and speakers to play with.

Thats a great recorded tone man. I had a 5153 for awhile, maybe I was dialing it wrong too but it kinda felt a little sterile to me whenever I was comparing to the rest of my amps. Also one of the few amps I ever sold too.
