I hadn't realized these amps do not have a master volume.
Is that to allow it to have a more traditional Marshall design and performance?
I assume it's difficult to use at home volumes.
I completely understand and it's something I love about my Bogner Shiva. Less is more.
I'm seriously looking at a 101b, Ecstacy 20TH Anniversary, Ecstacy 50 watt or Helios Eclipse.
When did they stop making the 101b?
I know if be looking for a pre-owned one, but are there some years better...
Hey gents,
How does the Ecstacy Pandora compare to the 50 watt Ecstacy? I like that the 50 watt has a red channel similar to the XTC 20th Anniversary red.
I know guys who prefer the Helios for lead playing over the 101b, I don't have any experience with the new Pandora and how that compares...
I watched a video of the lead guitarist for Flat Black, Jason Hook. They took every modern high gain head they could find and compared. They all walked away preferring the EVH Stealth 100 EL34 as the biggest, chunkiest and chuggiest.
I'm looking at a bunch from the Bogner Ecstacy to EVH to...
That's a great point about low end.
I am fine with a 50 war head.
I did have issues with my EL34 Shiva being too polite and lacking aggression, but that's it.
Interesting to find the Bogner more angry and better than the 5150 series for you.
Good to hear.
I've often thought I'd like an EVH 5150III Stealth one day as a thick, chunky, smooth EL34 head.
I'm a Bogner fan but always think it's cool to try other brands to add to the stable.
Would be fun to...
Still going strong?
My Shiva is my favorite lead amp and I'm curious how the Ecstacy fits in. More chewy or more dry or just different?
I often hear the XTC is fatter in the mods and the Shiva, more focused.
Hey dude!
Yes, I'm a big Bogner guy.
When I tried to use my EL34 Shiva 20th with a band against a Marshall DSL 100, I struggled. He cut like a knife bad was ultra aggressive. I ended up switching to my Archon and Dual Rec to fit the band.
Then again it was a very heavy modern band.
I have a...
Thanks for the post man.
I meant mids, not kids. Darn auto correct.
I also have a Bogner Shiva with KT88s that is great but I'm going to experiment with modding it for EL34s to see if I prefer it.
Honestly, I think I'm just a Bogner guy and an EL34 guy.
I've learned it's important to use...
Sorry. I know this is an older post but felt it fit my situations rather than starting new.
Over the years, I've found I prefer EL34s as they feel and sound best to me. It's more about the feel wirh that compression, harmonic complexity and creamy mids.
I tried 6CA7s in my Shiva and while it...
I go back and forth with V30s.
I've settled on Redbacks and Creambacks my go to speakers.
I keep hearing this mid ice pick sound to my ears with V30s but the some days, I don't! Ugh, eats are so weird from day to day.
Old post but I didn't want to start a new one.
I was told years ago that a hotter bias will provide better feel and punch, chewie tones. Not sure why I had a tech tell me that. I'm thinking it is best to bias somewhere in the middle of the range.
Eurotubes tube store guys told me you do want to...
I'm really thinking of selling my Revv Gen Mark III to get the Ecstacy 50 watt. I have a 20th Anniversary Shiva and I'm just a huge Bogner fan. They always feel and sound right to me and my playing.
Tired of spending money on amps and coming back to Bogner so maybe the lesson here is that I'm...
It really sounds great. I hope you enjoy I.
I know some guys struggle to get Bogner to cut live in a band setting since they tend to not be as aggressive as something more in the Marshall vein but I love how Bogner sound and how they feel under the fingers. They always feel good to play.
I was...
Everyone is different. I have all the speakers listed here and now all my cabs are redback/v30(UK).
I s I'll have all my other speakers da piled up in my music room in case I want to swap. Use what works for you. V30/RB works best for me. :)
I retired my Creambacks though.
I the end in a band...
