I've been using dummy loads since the early 80's and I never had any problems. You do go through power tubes a bit quicker because you tend to crank your amps higher tha usual. The benefits are great because I like eqing my amp post distortion to adjust for different room acoustics. If the dummy...
This my new prototype dummy load arrived today! I'm going to test it and if it works out I'm having a 4 way dummy load built so I can switch between 4 different amps using a single cabinets. I'll be using a Mesa Boogie 2 90 as the power amp to drive my Marshall. The dummy load has a switch so I...
I would use a rack fx, they are much cleaner. You can get a nice doubling effect using a pitch shifter which is what you hear in many recordings If your amp has a line out and using an eq after the Effect rack and run it into a clean amp or using a mixer into a power amp. You can also use two...
Thanks, with blues is hit and miss with me. I guess it depends on my mood, but I still have a long way to go with it. Yo escribi la cancion para una puta que me jodio! I was really glad she was gone! She was sucking the life force out of me! Never date a bipolar girl! LOL!I wrote the song awhile...
This is a video I did for Aracom Amps featuring there PLX100 amp and the DRX attenuator. This is my 1st video and I was trying to keep a good quality while playing live.I did 2 takes per solo and added the one I liked best, but I screwed up the intro and placed the wrong video! It was tough...
I decided to keep all my amps and stop selling them to get another one because I always end up missing something about them. You also always end up loosing the money you invested in it. So slowly I've been trying to buy them back. I had a great sounding Mesa Boogie MkIIc( not the c plus) and...
I saw a Axe FX II on ebay and they were asking $2,600 when you can buy it for $2,199 on the website. I also saw a 1965 Marshall Kitchen Sink( I think that's the year or 66') for $29,000! He had it on ebay for a long time! Who's going to pay that much for an amp? I'm sure is a nice rare amp, put...
I usually works out depending on how you dial the amps. Usually you have a main amp that get's featured and the other that get's reamped are usually blended in to add a different color. Sometimes you ad an amp with less gain to enhance the attack giving the rhythm parts more clarity.
I have a Marsha HBE/BE with the usual suff and I find myself using it mostly for rhythm than lead. I tried the SLO but never recorded with it, but I think it cuts more for the leads than the Marsha. I usually end up using my Plexi/JCM800 for leads than my Marsha mainly because the upper mids...
you should be able to run it with no problem at 8 ohm. Or you could re wire your cabinet to 4 ohms. I had a Mk IIc and used it like that for years and never had any issues.
I was really into Groove Tube amps! I almost bought the preamp but I ended up buying the Groove Tube Solo 75. That was my first boutique amp, it was so expensive in 1994. Later on I traded it for the GT Soul o 150, that'r when they changed the name. That amp was loud as hell! The clean channel...
The live album was the best for me. I saw him in P.R and he had the biggest pedal board I have ever seen at that time. His guitar sound was huge! I read that he used 15" speakers in his set up!
My son sometimes plays at the Whisky with a Hard core Metal band and he did mention pay to play. He's the bass player. In the 80's my old band had a financial backer and he used to buy the tickets and give then away to people. We did several shows at the Troubador and 2 of them we opened for...
Gazzari's closed down and is not the same like in the 80's when there was a huge crowd. Only when a well know band comes down. The scene change almost overnight! You see people some people not even close to what it used to be. The Roxy, is still open, also the Whisky and the Rainbow bar and...
I remember they both had small pedal board with a bunch of Boss pedals and they used a Boss overdrive because I remember when they were doing a sound check you could hear the diference when they stepped on it. I think they also had an Eq pedal, probably for the rhythms..That was a long time...
I never went to see them after they took off, I was a starving musician then, so I couldn't even afford to go! I'm glad I saw them in a small club before thy mayd it big! It was an exiting time playing in those days, tons of chicks, playing cool places and playing guitar 8 hours a day! I was...
When I lived in Pa, my old band played with them as a opening act in clubs like the Galaxy, Empire Rock club and on time at a roller rink. This was when they were about realese their album. They sounded great! Tommy Keifer used a Les Paul Custom and Jeff Labar used a Kramer, they both used...
When I bought my new PRS in GC I tried 10 of them, and every single guitar was out of tune and the room had a bunch of nice amps and they all buzzed,. There was somthing wrong with the wiring and this was GC in Hollywood which is a huge store. You would think they could afford to have the proper...
I've mixed several Metal albums and when I get the files from the clients, some people put everything on so when the album is being mixed they can have options if you have the track count. If you have 2 guitar players make sure they have a distic sound by using certain amps for each player. Some...
