With the replaced transformer I reckon it's close to worth that price. I've owned a few Ceriatones, and the stock transformers are very heavy. Even if the sound isn't different/improved by the Classic Tone, I'd appreciate the lighter iron. $1,000 isn't an awful deal IMO, but you can find better.

The OD100SE was on Suhr's website last I checked (probably haven't been there since last year). They even listed the OD100 Classic version too. Okay, just went over to the Suhr website now - very different from how I remember it looking. Looks like there was a redesign within the last year or so.

What do you find different between them? I use the Cobalts, but have never been able to compare them to the regular EBs in real time.

Cobalts 11 - 48. I think I like them better than the regular Ernie Balls (never A/B'd in real time). Never tried M Steel - and I think they have even another gimmicky set out now as well. Not to say they don't sound good.

Does the EVH sound OK with the Koko through other amps?
