Has anybody had the two and can compare? The GP3 is the preamp section of the Ultralead with separate channels, so I wonder how it compares to a Synergy preamp with an Ultralead module?
Thanks guys! What I liked most about the UL is that very tight feeling with an immediate attack and feel, so I don´t need all three channels. It also had a very "focused" feel to it. So I guess I just have to wait. I was told that currently the UL is unavailable as there will be a new version...
Had one years ago, sold it, regretted it ever since. They are extremely rare and almost impossible to find where I live and aren´t currently in production. What´s the best alternative? Maybe the Synergy module? How close will it get me and is the Ultralead module very sensitive to the poweramp used?
Thanks guys, this is indeed very helpful and answers many questions I had.
Regarding the Synergy system, I was thinking about that, but I guess that the poweramp is just as important to get that very tight, fast, focused tone? If so, I might have to get a Fryette poweramp to go along with it. Or...
I had an Ultra-Lead several years back and have regretted selling it ever since. I have not found a lead tone and feel like that ever since. Very precise, tight, just glorious. They are extremely rare where I live so I wondered what could come close. There are models like Hundred/CL, Fifty/CL or...
Funny enough, I already have a Bogner Ecstasy (albeit a Classic). The second channel in the EVH reminded me of the XTCs blue channel, but the red channels differ quite a lot IMO. The EVH is far more open and more aggressive. More "marshally"? Also way more harmonic content in the EVH... Maybe I...
I know I´m late to the party, but I played an EVH 5150 III for the first time recently. It´s a very cool amp and I LOVED its tone, however it was a bit noisy. Plus it does have quite a few features and is quite reasonably priced, so I´m wondering how well they´re really made? Build quality is...
So I´ve had an SLO for over 10 years and it is one of the best lead amps out there. I´m currently using it slaved as a preamp only with its signal going through a stereo rack into two cabs. I´ve been thinking about adding an X99 preamp to have more different tones available (and storable)...
Just found out about this guy, never heard of him before. Seems like he recently did a cover album.
Take a listen:

Now that´s what I call some good tones. Anybody know what they used? Obviously, the production is top notch as well, might have something to to with...
I have an Ecstasy Classic loaded w/ EL34s and would like to get the aggressive Uberschall tones every once in a while. Will this amp with the Uberschall pedal get me close?
So Dave Weiner startet a website called GUITOPIA which seems to be an amped-up version of the old Riff of the week with lesson videos and so on. Is anybody a member over there?
Thanks for the input!
I read that both MIM strats and Squier strats can be good sometimes, you just have to find the right one. I prefer to keep it under 500, so that may be the route I have to go.
What do you guys think about the LTD series? There´s the ST-213 series wich also comes with HSS...
I´m looking for a good HSS strat. I´m looking for something light, resonant, and most importantly not too plastic feeling (like a squier classic vibe strat I played recently that sounded ok, but felt horrible).
I will be using it for 80s session tones like Landau, Huff, Luke, so no modern metal...
I have one of the very few Classics here in Germany
It´s a fabulous amp. I also have a ´95 SLO which I love. Both amps are great, but their feel is obviously completely different. The Classic has this organic, chewy tone to it. Maybe not suited for dropped metal tunings (don´t play...
Saw them live a couple of years ago in Germany (still with their first singer). Great Band and great guitar players, have been a fan since and baught every album. There´s great songs but also a lot of fillers on every album. "Black Night" off Freedom Rock is really good.
Hey man,
thanks for posting that - and for reinstating my believe in George Lynch. I rarely post, but just had to after hearing that clip. After hearing what he´s done in the last several years, I seriously believed he lost what made him good back in the day. That sounded excellent and was...
I understand that the general consensus for the Ecstasy is winged =C= for the poweramp and selected chinese for the preamp. However, I found a quad of NOS Siemens/RFTs from a very reliable source. They are friggin´ expensive though, about twice as much as an already expensive quad of winged...
