I have a Dorado and love it. It's basically a very fluid and saturated tone... can be dialed fairly tight or loose. I think several of my Dorado clips are on his site.

thanks for checking. care to guess mics? My recommendation to get a really good feel for the tonal differences, is to load the set of six into your DAW and loop a small selected section over and over, then switch to another clip of the same section. the differences jump out.

Okay, here's six mics with two sets of clips. Clips are numbered and the clip with lc in the name have a bit of bottom compression. mics are 57 57 w/o xformer atm650 e609S i5 atm25 I pointed each mic directly at the center of the same Greenback speaker, reamped the same clip and used a ruler...

if you like, I can do a head to head comparison between the 57, i5, e609S and ATM650... before you fork out the cash.

I agree... a mic I particularly like is the ATM650. it's sort of like an i5 and 57 combined. not quite the bottom of an i5 nor as scooped with a bit nicer upper mid hump than the 57.

get both kind-of... Fat Head or Trion 7000... 90%+ of a 121 at 20% of the cost Funds left over for a FX

I'm constantly rotating mics but the ATM650 is up there. the e609S is usually not. It just depends on what I'm after at the time. For brighter the i5 over the 57. but the 57's hard to beat and I almost always dual mic. For the last several months it's been a Trion7000 along with a 57 or ATM650.

I think he means ugly looking... I have quite a few mics and more than one of each (57, i5, e609s, Trion 7000, 421, ATM650 and more) My two cents... consider an ATM650 before you buy the 609S.

is anyone running 10's on their Axis? and or down tuned?

I have a SS that I've had now about a month. I'm really liking the guitar. the action is excellent and the stock PUPs are very descent.

hum, in that performance he seems to have lost the fire... tone doesn't seem to have much spark either. :cry:
