I didn't like 5751 in my Soldano's, it did drop the gain a bit but made the low end hollow sounding.
A good option I found was the JJ ECC83MG (mid gain), it still sounds like a 12AX7 but with less gain. If swapping V1 didn't drop the gain to the level you like you can get away with having it in...
Seems like there's only one new song (the one OP posted). Some of the stuff dates back to 2006/2007. Most of the songs are on youtube.

Most of his fans aren't going to buy most of the amp he demos anyway (unless it's cheap).  But the same goes for basically everyone who specialise in high gain amp demos.
Probably a bunch of hair metal bands that I never cared for? I bought mine because it's a massive sounding amp, especially at higher volume. Try it if you come across one.
Of course there's nothing exciting about the SLO tone in 2020 because that circuit has been ripped off a million times by other manufactuers. But it's worth remembering without the SLO these amps wouldn't have existed.
I bought my first SLO100 in 2015 which still remains one of my favourite amps. I also had a HR50+ which I let go in early 2018 before the Seattle facility closed (you guys know the rest of the story), so I sort of regret not keeping the HR.
A few weeks ago a friend told me he wants to get rid...
Leave it alone if you like the sound of it.
The faded ones sound good because they have very little (or none?) grain filler and very thin finish. With grain fillers and poly finish it'll end up sounding more "dead".
Oil finish on mahogany neck isn't a great idea either if you want stability.
You probably want to try it with some pedals first, not sure how its digital preamp reacts with dirtboxes?
For under $1000 it's worth looking into older silverface Bassman heads. These are usually $600 and he'd have some money leftover for a 2x12" cab.
Write 5-8 songs and record them with hired guns. Get them released and promote it.
Don’t worry about gigging yet because there’ll be no gig for anyone for at least another 6 months. You can worry about looking for members when the plague is over.
Pretty sure Fryette mentioned that the 2150 and Classic have the same transformers as the respective KT88/EL34 Pittbull heads?
Anyway I found that for modules, running it into a power section that is sort of in the same family work the best.
