This is not my video or anything, just thought he did a stellar job of demonstrating the differences.between magnets on the same set of pickups.
Will help me with designing sets for my other guitars with Planet Tone.
What say ye?
Thank you for the mode explanation! That will help me.
Earlier I said this pedal does not really jive with my main setup except for one mode, maybe 2 if you count OD channel, which is different flavor really. I leave it in a Fender Blackface clean, but it also has a tweed mode I should check...
Yeah? This one has 3 modes, which add different frequencies. 1 of the modes, probably the standard, I would totally agree with you 100%.
I should have been more thorough.
2 other modes add mids to a varying degree.
One of the modes adds quite a bit of midrange, which I like to add into my...
I realized something when I was swapping tubes for fun and messing with my amp:
I already have added mids into my Fender Blackface style amp due to it being a Rivera and having a knob for it, which I have up quite a bit.
When you remove those mids, the amp really needs/uses the extra mids and...
Funny how people say the little things do not matter but to someone who is very familiar with an instrument's sound/feel it "Almost doesn't even sound like the same guitar."
As time has shown - everything matters - some just matters a bit more.
Hello RT,
Just got to do a really fun comparison. I will prepend this with the fact that the A3 pickup is staggered albeit a slightly more modern stagger at approx 10-12" radius.
The A5 pickup I tested is non-staggered.
I tested a Planet Tone DG Bridge pickup.
These are quite hot for a...
Ah, funnily enough stamped vs solid steel saddles also make a slight tonal difference, though to my ears it is harder to distinguish than the switch to brass.
I haven't had a guitar with stamped saddles for years at this point.
You can also find saddles/hardware made of brass that do not have the brass coloring/look.
I have a tele with a black bridge and saddles that are made of brass that is coated.
I find that the brass saddles add a certain harmonic richness to the notes as compared to the more present 'body' of the note with the steel.
I did this on 2 guitars and had the same results.
Definitely dig the brass saddles.
Looks cool too.
The Breed Neck pickup is cool and the Evo 2 bridge.
They try to have an open headroom kinda sound for DiMarzios.
Cannot touch the open nature of my Planet Tone pound cake or blues Heritage set.
I need to poke around in the Jem's electronics though and see if there is something I can do to...
Why have the resistor at all unless you are tryng to drop top end on the pickup or something? Maybe you are, sorry if I missed that. The button is just a ground and a hot, you can attach them to anywhere, including directly to the output lugs along with your normal lead/ground. Looking forward...
Title says it all.
Mind you, I am running my amp with RCA 12ax7 long black plates and RCA 6v6s.
My Rivera has a really nice Blackface clean channel.
I generally play with all RCAs, but recently scored this very good looking sylvania.
Popped it into V1 for testing.
I remember that Syl are a...
