How are you liking the Alpha pots? Out of curiosity, what do they measure? You can select plug in a lead, hit post/neg on the meter, roll the volume up/down on it, and the number it hits when you are around the middle can be multiplied to find the pot value.

I normally go for PIO instead of mustards in guitars but they all have their own flavor.

I couldn't see myself keeping multiples of the same pickup. Different pickups that have something going on that I like I will keep around. Most of the time though, if I decided to remove them from a guitar, I do not like it enough to keep it.

Good advice. I clipped the treble bleed I found inside another guitar of mine that I did not expect to have it - Sterling JP157. Did not like what it did to the base tone at all.

I should have noted that the micromesh ends at 12000 grit. With the metal polish compound afterward and such....mirrors my man.

Score! They look good on there. PRS' look really nice with that color combo. The rollers should help with tuning stability as well I would think, so that's an extra bonus. For $30, definitely a win.

There is nothing to "mess up". You have some vintage braided wire with a lead, some pots with caps. I can send you the 50s wiring scheme you are using currently and when the new parts come in, just wire it all up.

Why take it to a tech man? Spend $30 for new pots and get to wiring.

What lends more to my "replace the push/pull pots" advice is that you can't split those pickups anyway with vintage braiding and a single lead like that, you need 4 conductor.

Just so you know, you could also just have a faulty pot, but doing all of the wiring can't hurt. Most likely, if wiring is fine, they may have messed up the CTS pot when they soldered some of the other eyes in it wrong and couldn't figure out how to fix it. The CTS push/pulls are very easy to...
