Ive been thru a few and for me the original Carl Martin Compressor/Limiter with the attached 120v power cord is the one. You can literally dial it in so you can’t tell it’s on all the way up to total squash. It’s very forgiving with high output pickups because it’s got the knobs to handle it...
I’m conflicted by the whole Ozzy thing. He and Sharon fucked too many people. Randy was my guy and then I loved Jake too. So I really, really love those first few solo records. But I just can’t forget/forgive SharOzzy for being total pieces of shit.
I mean, how many potato chips can you eat...
It depends. I like stamped steel on my Strats with vintage style bridge (most of them).
But on one of my Teles I use steel for the E/A and D/G saddles for a little more sting and stringiness. Then brass for the B/E saddle to get a bit less sting and more body.
You’ll figure it out. I injured my right hand decades ago so I hold the pick with my middle finger/thumb. And I occasionally hybrid pick so my ring finger/pinky are mostly closed fist but always ready to hybrid pick.
Maybe try to incorporate some hybrid picking.
Another weapon that Tom Bukovac...
The issue might be the sensitivity (loudness) of those old CBs. They will likely have less output than most modern Celestions. They might get buried too much.
I have yet to find a G12H-55 that I like. Recently sold some BB versions of that. G12H-75 can be decent tho.
Try to find the best way for you to tremolo pick. You need to find that motion in your wrist that you will be able to do fast. One way that helps me is to lift my wrist off of the guitar and try to tremolo pick. It feels weird at first but after a while it gets there. Then lower your palm onto...
Very cool!
Any plans for any specific 'kits' or loaded boards for say, "Add a stage to a 2203/2204" or similar?
Also, can you wire up the two triodes independent/separate?
Well Ozzy cost a whole $1.50 more so that right there says Randy was 18.75% better than Ed. Per Bill Graham.
I love them both and I don't think I'll ever choose between them. Probably my top 2 favorites but I really only get into the DLR VH. I liked Sammy VH at the time but it hasn't stuck...
While I think Amp Chaser is chasing a ghost there are some things that are true. VH1 sounds different. It could be JBLs but it also could be something else, or both. We are speculating. We don’t know.
At this point I’m OK with not knowing and with the prospect of never knowing. I know that the...
I got lucky on some GC used or Craigslist cabs that had ‘70s Greenbacks and Creambacks and just collected a few over the years. Now spread amongst several cabs. Even a 1x12 combo.
Also fell into this cab. It’s killer and my go to for a 4x12 for EVH tones. All original except one speaker...
Always thought they were a very talented/good band just a little out of my wheelhouse. I was in bands that covered Wish You Were Here and Drive and I always liked playing/singing Drive on acoustic.
I was PT fan back in the day and lived in Florida so I saw him several times. How many hours has that dude spent on stage? Seems like he was always touring. Not surprised he’s still good.
