Why it sucks to be a lead guitarist in the industry.

Yes, but the big problem is AIRPLAY. Without that, if you arent touring your butt off then forget about making a living. The only way other than major touring (and that requires good booking which usually requires a repudable record deal) is radio. Nowadays you can definitely record a great...

Why it sucks to be a lead guitarist in the industry.

Badronald. Who was the producer? I bet you it was the same guy... Pm me if you want. I'm really curious. And just to throw this out there, it was a fight the whole time to get every lead part on there. I was was quiet, he was livid. I let my band fight a lot of battles on my behalf too...

Why it sucks to be a lead guitarist in the industry.

I am not at all offended by anything anyone has said here at all. But in reference to the earlier statement "im a signed guitar player doing what i love".. this is true only to the extent of "im a signed guitar player". When we have issues like this, im no longer doing what i love. When a...

Why it sucks to be a lead guitarist in the industry.

Hey man I totally remember meeting you and our conversation about Splawn amps. And of course my rant about diezel;) I hope the album has a few cool solos that guitarists will enjoy but my hands are tied at this point. Hopefully at least a few will be on there. I will post songs as soon as...

Why it sucks to be a lead guitarist in the industry.

Dude. I really want you to hear some of the stuff ive recorded. Like i said, most (90% of them) are not at all shred. They are however very melodic and the tone is right on. Its very frustrating. I understand COMPLETELY the balance that you all are talking about. I went in knowing that...

Why it sucks to be a lead guitarist in the industry.

Exactly. And also, i was polite during the entire album and only tried to compromise the whole time. We went (past indie records)from having leads in every song that were pretty decent in length to only a handful of solos on the album that are in and out. There is a Huge compromise there to...

Why it sucks to be a lead guitarist in the industry.

Lol.. These are all good points. And funny... Im just not sure if the label is putting him up to any of this though.. I know a lot of it is his "opinion", and the way he makes it sound, it seems like he has been given the authority by our label to run the show. I was literally about to tell...

Why it sucks to be a lead guitarist in the industry.

So ive been recording an album for the past month now and have gotten nothing but flamed for playing lead guitar. Litterally got cussed out today over it by our producer, and told that "you know nothing about good music". "you listen to Dream Theater and Steve Vai". "Nobody cares about...

This is why I don't get Suhr guitars..?? ??

That is a hot guitar. I really need to try some more suhr's. The few i did play i really enjoyed but i have monkey hands and prefer the necks on the ibanez's way more. So far ive probably literally owned a dozen ibanez models and prefer the older Jems for tone and playability. I think its...

What are RT's opinions the Line 6 POD HD series?

    Salt and Pepper Cab question

I still have my old one and i must say its one of the best cabinets that ive played through yet. Its got the diezel custom eminence speakers in it. And now i have the new rear loaded... Of course i swapped out speakers about half a dozen times.

    Any Ibanez Jem owners here?

Which one did you have? I find the prestige models a bit thin, but the JEM..?

    What's a good 'all-around' speaker for a 1x12?

Dude.. im gonna also have to agree with the CL-80 posts. ESPECIALLY for a 1X12. I personally LOVE my bogner ported Shiva 1X12 cabinet with a Cl80. Its got great tone in my opinion.

    Any Ibanez Jem owners here?

Years ago i had the BFP jem and LOVED it! Sold it because it was played to death. Later i considered buying another one because i always loved the smooth rich tone of a jem, but i didnt because it was a "signature" guitar. Now im using the 1990 Ibanez Jem 77fp and so far (at bedroom levels)...

Anybody use an Ibanez Jem with their Diezels?

What do you all think? Tonal characteristics..? I just bought an original Ibanez Jem 77fp and thus far it sounds beautiful. Very good midrange tone. It must be the basswood or something. Almost dark. HOWEVER ive only played it at low levels at my apt with my einstein. I really am dying to...

Amps with the most saturated gain structure

JVM hands down.. then 5153 I wouldnt consider the diezel amps to be super saturated at all. A LOT more dry than the above amps mentioned.

    1x12 Cabinet

I promise you... gotta try the Bogner 1X12 ported shiva cabinet with a Cl-80 in it. Its unbelievable with the einstein.
