No, they're a new type of tube, not sure who makes tbh, but it's none of the "regular" tubes (JJ, EH, Sovtek etc), I haven't found them in any other store yet either.
The bass is low and full, they have a nice smooth top end and less fizz than any other tube.
Loving them a lot
I'd love to try the tj, am afraid that I'd like it though...and I can't afford another amp:)
Preamp tubes make a much bigger difference in the uber than in most of my other amps, the über had a rather brittle and dry upper midrange that's difficult to dial out (treble pot is higher and middle...
that's really odd...I've been reading quite often that JJs are unrliable (only in American forums though).
I've been using JJs for the past 10 years in like 12 different amps...that's roughly 450 Tubes or something, and I had only 1 (ONE) JJ die on me.
it was a 12ax7 that went microphonic.
And...
Awesome James!
make sure to run the mids above 12:00 (it's really more like a treble knob), I found 1:00 to be the sweetspot for the mids for a modern metal tone.
the presence (really just a contour) should be around 1:00 as well...
with the presence and mid knob set to 1:00 you can use treble...
well, hate might be too strong, I was just heavily disappointed...cause for me it was unusable.
I really liked the tone/the general character of the eini (like a less raw/more controlled 5150 flavor..but still different), there was just this one boomy frequency in the low mids/high bass that was...
fair enough ;)
*sigh* I don't really know what to respond to that tbh, not even for the sake of debating.
it has nothing to do with ears and subjective listening "amount of bass" is a measurable thing...thats like saying "my Herbert is at 106 dBspl louder than my Recto at 123dBspl, that#s...
