just remember (since I'm sure ya'll are quite aware), your tone is the result of a system. I snapped to that not too long ago even though it should have been obvious to me. It depends on your speakers, cab, pickups, guitar, etc. as much, and in some cases even more so (i.e. speakers, pickups)...

I run one out from M4 -> Intellifex set to 100% wet -> power amp, other out from M4 -> power amp, so basically wet/dry. But i'm really wanting the switchblade :thumbsup:

not sure what cheap is to you, but the Behringer FBC1010 works great for me. There's also free windows software available for programming it that makes it a breeze if you want to get complicated with it

speaking of T/D, I just did the tube-swap-boogie this weekend with it. Tubes tried: Tung Sol RI Mullard RI Penta Labs Chinese 9th gen Sovtek 12AX7WA JJ Ecc83s JJ Ecc803s Jan 5751 GT12AX7R Engl Ecc83 I mixed them up and swapped them out blind one by one, going only by tone. After it was done...

one more suggestion - have you considered a graphic eq pedal? Full eq control and volume boost and no gain

Oh, you don't have to justify it. How is a manufacturer supposed to guess which tube tone, the preference being subjective, that any given customer prefers? Sovtek, JJ, Chinese 9th Gen, EH, etc? You're doing the best thing. Besides, the tube is just one component in the whole tonal system of...

yup, they are RI - "reissues". The general concensus is that the Mullard RI do not sound like the original Mullards but some people still like them. The Tung Sol RI are liked a lot by a lot of people as far as tone but have some reliability issues and don't seem to last very long.
