What is Your Ultimate Amp Setup?

I've been gigging a Bogner Ecstasy 101B and a V30-loaded Bog 4x12 (or two) since the early 2000s. That's my dream rig. I've played every conceivable sized venue with that rig from the smallest dive bars to civic arenas and outdoor shows. It sounds killer and is inspiring to play at all volumes...

    Anybody remember Krokus?

Had the good fortune of seeing Krokus in the early 80s, I think they were supporting Judas Priest. Distinctly remember being blown away by their set. They kinda fell off to the wayside for me, so thanks for the reminder LP!

    Anybody remember Krokus?

Just in case you haven't discovered this yet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loEcjPY ... 3D80B5E44B

Just played Staples Center with DLR - amazing night!

Fantastic and congrats! Really bummed I missed it when it rolled through my town recently. Been watching every clip I can find! Great to hear Dave settling comfortably into his catalog and the band is absolutely killing! And of course...major SL68 want.

Thoughts on the PRS Silver Sky?

I'd say if you're familiar with, and into more vintage Strats, the Silver Sky might be right up your alley. If you're used to more modern guitars with bigger frets and a fretboard radius flatter than 7.25, you might not connect with the SS. That was my experience recently when I checked out a...

    Jazz III John Petrucci picks

Always wanted to try Gravity picks, thanks for the heads-up. Just added a couple to my cart. $5 each though...ouch.  I did try a couple of the Tradition Lite V-Picks (I think they're acrylic like the Gravitys). They were OK, but the tone of that particular type of plastic...

    Jazz III John Petrucci picks

I think the regular black and red Jazz IIIs are the same. The red Eric Johnson is a different chemical makeup of nylon though. I guess the story is Dunlop slightly modified the formula for the Jazz III picks and EJ didn't like the results. He asked them if they could continue making picks the...

Alex Lifeson in a box pedal?

Slightly OT for anyone else interested, found this cool site listing all of Alex' gear over the years. From what I can tell, it seems pretty accurate. https://rush.fandom.com/wiki/Alex_Lifeson_equipment

Alex Lifeson in a box pedal?

Huge Lifeson & Rush fan. To me, Lifeson's effected tones from that era were basically combinations of modulation (chorus), delay (with and without mod) and reverb. I like to have each of those available to me separate so I can mix-and-match. I think modulated delay pedals like the Future Factory...

What’s wrong with my new delay pedal?

https://www.tcelectronic.com/Categories ... rans(en|en) That's the Flashback Mini download page. The last two items are downloads for Mac and Windows Tone Print Editors. I just successfully downloaded both (click the down arrow at the far-right). Sucks that you're having these issues...these...

What’s wrong with my new delay pedal?

It's been a while since I messed with mine. Are the Tone Print App and Tone Print Editor two different things? I think the app lets you beam a tone print to your pedal and the editor lets you create your own tone prints (and change other settings like kill dry). Info on TP Editor...

What’s wrong with my new delay pedal?

Dang, I missed that you had the mini, apologies. I think the only difference is that kill dry is changed through the Tone Print Editor and not internal dip switches. Here's what I found in their documentation... True to Tone You love tone and so do we, and our design philosophy testifies to...

What’s wrong with my new delay pedal?

Not sure if this will help, but have you checked the kill dry setting? If kill dry is on, you'll only hear the effected signal, not your original. http://downloads.music-group.com/softwa ... nglish.pdf Page 22

    Poison sound

Rikki absolutely was a hair stylist back then. He's 100% responsible for the band's look in the early days. In the early 80s no other band that I knew of in central PA was doing what they did. Every other band would smack talk them and their lack of musicianship, but man if they didn't ALL start...

    Poison sound

And speaking of GnR, I've heard stories of Slash auditioning for Poison right after they moved to LA. They hired CC instead. I think it probably worked out best for everyone...including us.

    Poison sound

A slight off-topic detour if I may. I knew Bret and Rikki peripherally way back in the early 80s. I went to high school with them albeit I was a couple of years younger. Around the time those two graduated hs, they started a cover band called Spectres - no Bobby or CC at this time. I remember...

Do I really want a Line 6 Helix?

Listened to your Ace clips here back when you were prepping for the gig. Sounded fantastic! I guess I missed the fact you were using the Z Wreck model, I never would have landed on that. I grabbed a PowerCab Plus recently and only just started messing with the amp models in my Helix. Will have...

Do I really want a Line 6 Helix?

For transparent boost, I currently use one of the EQ blocks and only bump the level on it. Everything else is flat. Works perfect, no coloration, just a straight volume boost. I set up most of my presets with that way back before I realized there was a Gain effect. I did briefly try Gain...

Do I really want a Line 6 Helix?

One of the few gripes I have is the expression pedal toe switch. You really have to put some weight on it. On the other hand, if they changed it, you'd have people complaining that it switches when they don't want it to.  I haven't set up snapshots yet, but that's my next adventure...
