Oh man, a few of us living parallel lives here! Too funny!
Huge WD fan here. Was sad to see him go. I thought he and Carlos made a pretty awesome team and was looking forward to some new material from them. Infestation was a really solid album.
I recently picked up a CU24 Floyd that came stock with PRS \m/ pickups. If you don't mind trying a different set of PRS', I highly recommend these. The DC on them is high, but the ceramic magnet keeps things tight and clear. Really loving both the neck and bridge and will be putting them in a...

Looks like preamp tubes in V1, V4, V5 and V6 are for CH3.
IMHO, the culprit is most likely V4, V5 or V6.
EDIT: boyedav beat me to the layout link. I think it's still correct for the Stealth model.
OP: With a flat board like yours (and mine), I do custom cable lengths for audio and route and zip tie the power cables the best I can. Forget what they're called but the cable ties with the adhesive square connected work pretty well to keep things out of the way. I keep extra George L cable and...
I had the exact problem a number of years ago. Narrowed it down to my Mogami cables. I used a number of different buffers and while they helped the signal strength, I still didn't like the tonal coloration in the mids. Not sure if all Mogami types are like that, but every one I've ever tried, I...
Love my 2014 PRS CU 24 Floyd!
I've had several PRS guitars in the past that didn't quite do it for me. They looked, felt and played great, but they just sounded a little uninspiring to me. Pretty sure a lot of that had to do with the pickups. I've never been a huge fan. So I got out of the PRS...
I've been gigging with the same Bogner XTC 101B since the late 90s. I have and had other amps that I really dig as well, but I've developed my ear and playing style somewhat around the XTC, so it's home for me. Like others have said, no matter what other amp I play through, I usually end up...
Permanent Waves was my first concert as well and I'm glad I got to see them on their last R40 tour. Alex will always be at the top of my list of influential guitarists. Sad to see them make it official, but they had one of the most amazing runs in rock history.
While we're on the subject of PRS guitars and pickups, I have a CU24 Floyd with PRS' new \m/ (metal) pickups. I haven't seen a lot of discussion on here about them, but the naming and marketing is kinda misleading IMHO. I've tried everything under the sun over the years and the \m/ set is one of...
I dislike the Tele headstock so much, I actually prefer a Strat headstock on them.
I bought a band new Dean ML in my teens way back in back in '82. It was the most bitchin guitar I'd ever seen. It had the original ginormous "V" headstock. To this day, it's one of the best sounding...
I've been eyballing the TC-50 and the JP-2C, but nowhere locally to try either. My tastes live a little more in the EL34/Marshall territory than the Mark series so I kinda passed on the JP-2C...for now.
Had zero clue the TC-100 was coming. Man, is there a "guitarists wish-list" feature missing...
Apologies if this has been posted already (I didn't see anything). Mesa releasing a TC-100 soon!

I wasn't going to reply because you're looking for a Motor City option, but I was looking for the same thing for my Charvel So Cal. Tried a lot of the same pickups you've mentioned, felt the same way about a lot of them. I ended up with an EVH Frankenstein in the bridge and a SD 59 in the neck...
Sounds fantastic! I'm currently using my Helix as fx only with my main amp rig. Been thinking about a Helix-based setup just like yours for certain venues. So I assume you're digging the Friedman?
Metallica's guitar tones are being sent to at least 4 places:
1) IEMs
2) Wedges
3) On-stage guitar cabs
4) FOH
The tones have to work and sound great consistently in all of them. I think the IEMs are a big reason they've gone with the Fractals. I'm guessing it's just easier for them to get a...
If you were told that all pedals would work fine, you were lied to. When I bought mine, I unfortunately learned that lesson the hard way. I had a bunch of pedals that flat-out didn't work in the loop because of the volume drop and tone suck. Had to buy a number of new units and redo my board a...
