I've got a Hellion and a Wizard MCII, both are keepers. I don't have an Alta but that one sounds most true to a Marshall from the clips I've heard.
The Wizard is very clearly a modified Jubilee, so it's a question of how close to a Plexi you really want (given those influences you mentioned)...
East Bay Ray from Dead Kennedy's because that dude managed to mix surf music with punk music and I think that sounds sick. I basically aspire to something similar but more with spaghetti western and hardcore.
Jimmy & Angus because that's what I hear in my brain when someone says rock'n'roll...
Sounds good, would never ever come close to buying one anywhere near that price though.
Like my ceiling for those tones/features would probably be like $2k new.

Looking at an E series by me at the moment as well. TLDR of them from what I can find is the wood working is great but the electronics are garbage (hence someone dropping some Laces into yours).
Chatted with a local tech and his recommendation...
Ground lifts are tricky...they're not always well places in your signal chain and are technically unsafe for amps.
Passives boxes like the Lehle P-ISO solve those problems though.
Invest in a noise gate that does the 4CM, it may introduce a ground loop (solvable) but it will make your rig usable if you've got a lot of feedback going on.
I'm in a similar boat (high gain, volume cranked, sit in front of my cabs) and make it work with a Fortin Zuul+ (silence the noise...
I'm so surprised since I hate rectos and own(ed) a ton of Marshall based amps, but I think I like the Rectos better from him (at least based on the handful of clips).
I feel like I have all the switches set to the tightest I can and then have to compensate by adding back more bass.
I'm still not sure which gain style position I like best as well.
Now that I've tried a Recto version I'm realizing how different it sounds from this Marshall version. I used to think they were way more similar until just now.
Ahahah so the master on the rear is set to like 2, got that tip from Jeremy and love the extra saturation that method provides.
Gain Trim I find darkens the amp a bit and I prefer things brighter so I leave it maxed.
But preamp gain... yeah, crank that shit. I've been experimenting with that...
Did you get another Hellion? This one I actually got from you lol, sent it to Jeremy for circuit updates though.
I don't love the Hermansson with a V30 but was too lazy to swap speakers in this clip. Agreed on needing to crank the gain. Finding I need to crank the presence to remove the blanket...
Couldn't find a way to make these sound good with a DI+IRs, so here's a shitty phone clip instead. I've had the Hellion for about a year, just got the Hermansson a couple months ago, and find I'm gravitating towards using them both for the same type of stuff.
Jackson Pro Dinky w/ JB played in...
