My "wet" cab (DSL 40CR) is not 100% wet. I like equal amount of dry signal coming out of each cab dry /wet, just one has the added effect(s).
Is that wrong? should the DSL bet set 100% wet? I occasionally use an EQ for solo boost also in the line out.
Years ago a built a few homemade EP3 pre-amp circuits from their original schematics. I wasn't that impressed at the time. Maybe I had unrealistic expectations?
I have not tried any others but was wondering is the Dunlop EP101 any good? Could a simple 6 band MXR EQ be set to do the same thing...
Coolness. Thanks. I will give that a try. It's a balancing act because I have a hard time knowing if I have enough signal feeding the reverb.
How can I tell if I'm overloading the reverb pedal with the Bray signal?
I have the level on the reverb at about 9 oclock and sounds pretty good...
Hey All.
Wondering how I should do this or what others do controlling volume. Here's my set up:
I have a David Bray Lo-1 line out box between my Marshall Superlead Head and cab. The line out goes into reverb pedal and then into the FX return of a DSL 40CR.
My question is this: Should I max...
Congrats! I also have a 74 Superlead. Mine is modded to use EL-34s. I also removed the bright 5000pf cap on channel 1, changed NFB from 100K / 4ohm tap to 47K / speaker jack, added a 0.68uF cap at V2 & I have input jacks internally jumpered (low volume 1 into high Vol 2)
I just installed a...
I tried a quad of new matched Winged Cs many years ago, 2009 maybe? in my old Superlead and they sucked so bad. Horrible tone. bad quad of tubes? Perhaps.
I put JJ 6CA7s in and they sounded way better. As a matter of fact, they're the best sounding tubes for my amp.
Cool video for marketing pickups for sure!
For VH tones I just adjust my EQ pedal. Done. Doesn't matter what pickup I have as they all have enough output, especially for the older VH stuff done with his Plexi.
For me, I can't really tell any difference between using vintage Mustards, Orange Drop or Xicon types in my old marshall. I used all three in the past for repairs and mods & they all sound the same to me in my amp.
Right now I have a Marshall 4x12 1960B Classic cab w/ with 25 watt greenbacks made in England & an Avatar open back 2x12 with a vintage 30 and a G12T-75. The Avatar sounds much better with my Marshall 1959 MkII Superlead even though the 4x12 is supposed to be the holy grail with that amp...
