Well that's an easy one:
THE Les Paul, into one of his Jose (at least I think it was a Jose) Marshall JCM800's, two Roland JC-120's for cleans and a cable.
He's like Eric Johnson being able to identify the smallest changes in his signal path. He made the poor guitar tech run out mid-show, to...
Sykes is the man. He's one of the few guys that can go shred-bananas, and it still sounds like rock and roll, and not some brainy wanking.
I've never actually seen him play a whammy bar before. I know he did, but never seen it. Coool.
Why did Dave fire this team... well, it's hard to...
I wish I could go back in time to 1989 and get one more record from Queensryche, Pantera, Megadeth, Ozzy (with young Zakk), Winger, Whitesnake, White Lion, all other "W" bands.
That said, Whitesnake and Winger put out VERY respectable CD's last year. I would have bought them even if they...
I hate the 5 way. Unless you're Carlos Santana, and have 30 seconds between your phases, so you can switch pickups and have a cup of tea, it's just impractical.
So I removed the tone knob (who needs to roll off highs on a PRS!?!) In it's place I put a 'blower switch' that jumps between the...
I got the VH4 and Rivera Silent Sister, and Chandler Germanium, and hadn't really tested 'em out. So these were my first real go's at it.
I also posted this stuff in the Rig-Talk forum: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=47252 with more detail.
Guitar: Gibson Les Paul '58 VOS Plain Top
Mic: SM57 ->...
Sheesh! The ch1 of the VH4 is so dynamic, that I really need to practice more to get clean arpeggiated chords all nice and the same volume. In the meantime, ;) what's a good compressor pedal to use with it? I have an Analogman modded Dynacomp, but it's way to vintagey for this task.
I was...
I did another version where I turned up the volume a bit (channel and masters at about 9:00), and adjusted the mic to capture the most tone I could. Then I tweaked my channel settings from there. This one is entirely done with the Silent Sister cabinet.
Made a huge difference. I was able to...
Hi fellas,
I just got a the new Rivera Silent Sister isocab.
http://www.rivera.com/products/silentsi ... sister.php
I’ve been using a Randall “Isolation” isocab for the past 5 years, and have gotten great use from it. However, it has taken some work to milk the kick-assery out of it.
Over...
I'm trying to wait patiently. I have one on order at Trutone Music in Santa Monica. They're being cool, but Rivera said they should have some a couple weeks ago. Still waiting. :aww:
The Randall is OK. I've gotten some great tones out of it, but some times I've had to work really hard...
I've seen that vid. That dude is killin' it! The minute I plugged in, it was evident that the VH4 can do waay more than just the heavy balls stuff.
I've got it running into a Randall Isolation Cab right now... I'm waiting on the new Rivera Silent Sister. I might pick up a Diezel 1x12 too.
kinda a 2 sided thing
- One side kinda like a Super Reverb-ish (minus the reverb)
- The other side kinda like a Marshall Super Bass-ish
Also with less noise...maybe a master volume (is that sacraligeous  )?
Thanks for the response,
M
I've been using a Randall Isolation (iso-cab) for a couple years. It gets the job done, but it by no means sounds great. I'm waiting to check out a Rivera Silent Sister (once they come in), but I wonder if it's a better idea to pickup a nice 1x12 (CAA, Bogner, Diezel) and have a box built...
