Nice axe. I just sold my carvin. Wish I had done more research before I ordered it. I got the same wood combination, mahogony body/maple neck. Problem was, mine was a DC 125 so neck through body and the whole guitar ended sounding like maple
It is blocked to dive only but I may need to adjust the blocking piece as I can hear a very small rise in pitch if I pull up on the bar a little even though I can't really see any movement occur.
Thanks. This one has EVH etched on the top. I can gently pull up on the bar and there is no noticeable movement that I can feel or see but the pitch does raise just a small bit (microtones). I may need to back out the trem block a smidge, plus I'll try the shim under the tremolo. I wouldn't...
This came in 2 days ago. Bought it from forum member Padre Bonic. I think he had it on the classifieds for about 30 seconds before I pulled the trigger   It's a USA ProMod but has a lot of upgrades, including the kick ass paint job. I basically plugged it in Monday and made sure...
Damn what a mess! I just bought a charvel here and it's on the way. Threads like this make me nervous, ha-ha.
The asking about the neck pocket thing is a little fishy but should be pretty easy to compare neck grain to confirm that it is still the same neck or not. The shipping it back in a...
I own one Suhr. It is a Suhr classic T. Outstanding guitar in every way. My take is this. If you want a Fender but have some particular features you must have that are going to force you into the Fender Custom shop, you may as well look at Suhr. Suhr vs Fender custom shop and Suhr becomes...
Well, hopefully I didn't make a mistake because I just bought it. I figure for the price I could always install a German floyd if I like the guitar otherwise. Here it is.

What's your take on the Floyd Rose Special. I was looking at a guitar and asked the seller and apparently the Floyd is a Floyd Rose Special, made in South Korea. Any good or is it garbage? Is it going to stay in tune and will the knife edge wear easily or saddles strip out with typical use. I...
I'm a Dimarzio fan and I have to recommend the Norton and the FRED. I know there is a new and cooler Satriani pickup but seriously, try the FRED. It is a PAF Pro .... but a little bit more. The Norton really opened up my stuffy sounding Explorer
Mine is V2 and no, he didn't tame the dorado that much. He basically did something to help with the noise because not everyone runs a noise gate like he had originally planned. Anyway, the gain is really obscene and I can't imagine you every needing to turn it up that much or your notes dying...
Definite difference in makoplex and dorado in terms of voicing. I think of it like modded marshall vs boogie dual rec. As far as diming the gain to do single note lines, I can't imagine ever running the gain up that high on mine. I'm guessing there is something going on wrong with it. No...
about the same position. about 1/3 or maybe a little higher. Except the clean with is way over at about 3/4 the dial. I have a meter on my effects unit. I basically set my gains then turn up the output until it starts to clip the meter with the input trim set about halfway or more. Then I...
Thanks for all of the advice. I am getting the harmonics, they just aren't as loud and prominent as I would like for them to be. Sounds like I just need to work on the technique. When I try to hit em' hard I miss. I usually tap with my middle finger but I'm thinking I might have to go...
How can I get the tapped harmonics during the choruses to ring out more? I don't think more gain is the answer. Is there a trick to this or do I just need to work on my technique? I suspect if anything what I need is volume. Not really ringing out at moderate to low volumes. Feels like I...
something is wrong. I can't get the gain up more than about just shy of 1/2 way on either makoplex or Dorado without the feedback and extraneous noises becoming unmanageable. Usually run my gain on both channels at about 1/3 the knob. I'd maybe replace the preamp tubes involved as a first...
