I will PM you the guy I dealt with recently. Though he also sat on my parts order for a few weeks, then apologized and threw a Soldano shirt in with my order.
Can you borrow the gear from the guy you're filling in for?
There was a British Invasion band here a while ago and a few of the guys worked at Fender. They just about all played Fender guitars and amps and sounded fantastic.
Ironically, that gun nut thread over there is so big, I think people would consider it a good resource. I know I go back and search for some stuff in there once in a while. I have to think, when the mods aren't getting pegged by their girl bosses, they sometimes fantasize about owning guns and...
There is a thread on TGP that the mods let go on for years, still going on about guns. Can't discuss laws and politics there, and a lot of antis jump in and make snide comments that the mods delete. But it's like the only near-forbidden fruit over there. BTW, I'm a gun nut and FFL, so I like...
Some pillow biter mod over there gave me a time out for responding to some other cuck who said I "voted for" some BS having to do with customs/import duties. I don't even remember what it was about, but I hadn't started anything political at all. After that I no longer renewed my paid...
Everyone get off my lawn, but I am getting to the point that I can't handle anything with more than six knobs. The old Marshalls just do it for me. If I need to bring an SD-1 and Hot Plate with me, those and the old Marshall are still a lot less than a boutique amp. I love the black panel...
YT videos are hard to go by. I'm selling my Dirty Shirley head because I bought it based on YT videos and it didn't sound like that to me at band practice. At home alone, sure, but it didn't work with the band.
I saw an A/B video today of a Friedman Plex and a Marshall 1959SLP and I...
So why not just get a 1959SLP? I have two and they just slay everything in their paths. I keep buying Friedmans, selling them and then looking at the next model - Plex and now Jose. But those 100w Plexis get THE tone every time. They're' big, heavy and loud, and I much prefer the more...
I love to roll tubes. I'm prepping a new bare headshell for snakeskin tolex for my SLO-30 now, so the chassis is out and it's way easier to roll tubes that way. Should be done in the next day or two, then she goes back together and I'll leave her in with those tubes for a while.
When I'm at home and playing by (with) myself, I find it a little too gainy. But with a band, oh man, it cuts like a knife and is the sound I hear in my head when I'm not playing with a band.
I've done a lot of rolling with my SLO-30. I put GT 12AT7s in V1 and V3 to tame the gain a little. But yesterday I threw a newer Mullard 12AX7 in V1 and like it a lot. I feel like I'm wasting something by only running the gain on 2, but that's as much as I can take. I always dime the volumes...
$2200 PP'ed and shipped to lower 48. This is a 2023 model, in like new to new condition, no signs of wear. Comes with original box and power cable. Killer amp, tone for days, but It's just not my thing, and I need to thin the herd. No trades.
I used to go to Manny's and Sam Ash on 48th St. back in the day. They had everything you could ever want. But that wasn't always the case in the small stores in the burbs. I got to tour the Kramer factory just as the 5150 tour was starting. Oh man, what a candy store that place was.
That still wasn't real cheap back then, but Kramer was small time in 1982. They had really taken off by 1986 and there was a waitlist to get a Baretta. I grew up in NJ, so I suppose it was a little easier for us. But you had to go down to your local mom and pop music store and place and order...
My best guitar buddy growing up had one of the second run of the Barettas, candy apple red, identical to the one Sammy plays in the Live Without a Net video. IIRC, that was something like $900. In 1986 that was some serious money for a guitar.
It's amazing how much guitar you get for the...
