Jalen makes them in any form you want. I have one that's a clear bobbin with four conductor wire, two in double cream in a Les Paul, a few zebras, all in four conductor wire and wired up for parallel or coil-splitting. Fender missed the boat here. I thought the Frankenstein pickup would be...
I thought I read that Ed and Steve Lukather narrowed it down to two versions and they ended up flipping a coin to decide which neck and bridge pickups EBMM would go with for the EVH guitar. EBMM's agreement with DiMarzio was that they could not sell these pickups separately. So they ended up...
I don't want or need the $5000 refund. But if I get it, I will always spend it on whatever the gov't. does not want me to have, which is usually guns and ammo.
I got a reissue 100w for $1000 shipped and that was before eBay started charging sales tax. I got a 2553 for $1600 a few years ago, but didn't bond with it, sold it and made some money. The SJ is a siren song for me. I keep buying them, remembering why I got rid of the last one, sell it and...
I had my Katana 100w head for six mos before I knew it had an internal speaker. I bought it as a backup head for gigs. It's perfect for the living room. I took it to practice last night and, through a 2x12, it easily hung with my bandmate's Bogner Ecstasy.
I just got my second tax stamp (five day turnaround time) AND my FFL. Any spare funds are going into the business now. I'll be getting my 07 and SOT around July. Then I can build and sell silencers and machine guns. I have enough Marshalls.
I did a 69' Marshall 1959 SLP clone build with Merrens that gets compliments every time I take it out. I mean, people always ask me about it. But I can only take it out for theatre or larger venue gigs. And even then I use a Hot Plate or Marshall PB with it AND the amp has a built-in Variac...
If someone is discounting for cash and they're reputable, I'll take it. Their tax situation is none of my biz. If they're not discounting for cash, but you're paying cash, you're still paying their CC merchant fees, as they're built into the price everyone pays. I'd rather get the discount...
I took my SLO-30 to band practice for the first time last week and it really cut like a knife, sounded way better in a band setting than when I crank it at home with earplugs or an attenuator. But I can't imagine 100w would sound better, as I'd not be able to run it any louder than I did my 30w.
I have my first practice with a new band Thurs. night. I'm bringing the SLO-30 and using a small Marshall 2x12 cab, the JVM one, smaller than the 1936. It's in a large industrial space, so I think I'll get to run it hard.
Where are you guys gigging that you can get the goods from an SLO 100? I had a pre-BAD one and I think I had exactly one outdoor gig where I got to really run it at full tilt. It sounded glorious, but otherwise it was under-run. My SLO 30 seems a lot more civilized and it's a little easier to...
I had the pre-BAD SLO 100 and currently have the BAD SLO-30. I ran that SLO 100 for years before I had an outdoor gig where volume was no issue at all. I had that master on 7 and it was a totally different amp. I was like, "Man, what was I doing for the past few years?" Now, with the SLO-30...
