Don't do that without thinking about it. You could drop in another microphonic tube and be in the same spot. Its not complex or dangerous. You can do it.
There is no perfect amp out there. There may be a better one, but perfection is just a word. I have the best sound I’ve ever had right now, but I’m still looking at a new amp to try to get closer to that moving target in my mind. Haha but, I’m gonna try to keep the current amp too.
Sounds really excellent, I've been watching a bunch of your videos recently as I've been getting into amp guys who are trying to improve on "British type" amps.
I have no desire at all to chase John's sound, but you really nailed it there.
Sometimes i'll lend some stuff to my cousin to check out. He plays but is so far removed from the gear community that I know nothing is going to happen to it other than something accidental.
But even then, usually what we will do is trade some item short term.

Probably my mid 80s 2204, vertical input. And it didn’t sound bad by any means, but it also just wasn’t particularly inspiring, which is what the hype would suggest it should be.
2020 USA Yngwie Strat. Previous owner added a brass trem block (stock is included in the case). Has all the case candy with the exception of the Leopard print strap, which the previous owner kept.
Posted otherwise for $2600, willing to work with local Rig-Talkers on better deal (Southwestern...
I think that there isn’t much new under the sun, so naturally on something that is really a “rock/metal leaning gear forum”, you are gonna have a fairly narrow band of topics.
must have? Tuner
Really want on a lot? Boss SDE-3
Otherwise I don’t give a shit, my amp doesn’t need a boost. I can run it that way if I want, but I’d rather have one super good sound than two compromised tones.
Yep, and the "backfiring" happened instantly. No one has talked about Randall in years. They are effectively forgotten by now except for the Dime nerds. (I say that with love, having grown up on Pantera)
Jon Oliva
John Bush
Rob Halford
Bruce Dickinson
Udo Dirkschneider - cool unique voice that stands out to me. Not necessarily "great singer"
I didn't read other responses before adding my own, and its nice to see the love in the thread for Oliva, Bush and UDO. Halford and Brucey are kind of...
I agree. The "boxy" discussion literally could've just been about the Boston tone, especially after the first record.
The first record is cool, but it immediately became a cartoon version of itself on the follow-ups.
Yeah man its fucking killer. Mine is an early "simple" one, single channel, no extra switches. It makes me smile every time I plug into it. The master volume is also the best I've ever heard, like pushing up a fader on a mixing desk.
Budda SuperDrive 18, and only really disappointing because it wasn’t loud enough to use with my band. Pretty much every other amp was what I thought it was.
