That's just what people do these days. They can't afford to play the game for real, so they'll buy an amp like that to play it for a few weeks and send it back.
I sold the Laney I was looking to move, no attempt at a negotiation, just happy with my price, which was great.
My Jackson RR1 has been sitting a little while, but I also understand that as it's not "cheap" and its sort of an acquired taste/buyer specific. That one I might wind up putting on...
As of tomorrow I will be back down to one amp. I really don’t need a lot of different amps as I pretty much shoot for one sound, I would like to get a 3-stage amp to pair with the 4-stage Sirrom. Another Morris. Basically having the 2 amps that overlap, but one can get heavier and the other more...
I don’t think I’ve owned anything that was massively disappointing. But I do remember the first time I played a Friedman (Small Box) And that was no damn good. I would consider revisiting one, but I don’t have high hopes.
I think it would be cool to hear something with Al on drums, Steve on guitar, and some other, 3rd party singer. I don't care to hear Roth or Sammy again on new stuff. It will only disappoint.
Knowing that you have electric engineering knowledge and aren't just "a guy who likes amps and built a kit", I think you and Glen would get along great.
I did a similar thing on tuesday with Morris amps. I got one off reverb and it took a hit in shipping. Seemed ok, but I figured he's nearby and I could have him give it a quick once over.
I played my amp (the Sirrom), the UK 67, UK 68 and his 68 Brownout. I'll be looking to put together some...
I mostly was using it DI, as I purchased it as a use quietly at home or break glass in case of fire into the PA for gigs.
I did however try it into the return of my Laney GH50L, and preferred the amps own preamp by a large margin.
