I have my pre-500 and my Rev. G, both Blackfaces, and to my ears, they sound different enough to be used in different scenarios. My Pre-500 definitely sounds tighter, and more aggressive, while my Rev. G sounds thick and multi-dimensional.
I usually combine one of my Coliseums with one of my...
No worries! Not a noob comment at all! I had to look at it a little harder to figure out what I was looking at!
My sig is old. I haven’t changed it in years. Partially because I can’t pull my old images from the dumpster fire that is Photobucket. I think I had a similar sig on the old Boogie...
I always thought if the Red channel was set to vintage (which clones the Orange Channel to the Red Channel, which may be likely since the OP said they prefer the Orange tones), then both Presence controls are active for the red channel (which now is really an Orange channel)...
But you guys...
Congrats on the Rev. C mod! If you’re living on the Orange channel, make sure you take note of where the red channel presence control is set. Most people don’t realize that the Orange channel can be dialed in using both channel Presence controls.
Isn’t Banker the brand that paid Gibson to make “officially licensed” guitars back when Gibson was getting slammed for the “play authentic” debacle?
I wonder if Banker is the brand that made Brent his green Flying V Custom that he used on Emperor Of Sand. The script on the headstock looks the...
Go get the IV. I love the feature set of the V, but it’s almost like it’s lost all the soul that the Marks used to have.
If you compare the Lead channel to RHY2, then RHY2 can sound Anemic in comparison, but that isn’t because RHY2 sucks, it’s because the Lead is so great! If you judge RHY2...
It looks good, but I think I’d “age” the rest of the hardware. The rusted stop tailpiece next to a shiny bridge looks off to me. Just my copper-tinged .02.
That intro rhythm riff has a very-STP-sound to it, at least in my opinion. Like I could have been a riff written after STP came up with Interstate Love Song.
Someone else uses Channel 2 besides me?
Anyone have experience running the AxeFX through a Mesa Strategy or Simul-Class 2:90? Did it work well together? Does it sound warmer/fuller than using a solid state power amp, or does the AxeFX get along better with a solid state amp?
I also go with a Mark III or IV. If possible, you could also try out the new Fillmore, just to see if it has enough gain for you and your setup. It’s not firebreather like the Marks, but it’s a little hotter than an Electrodyne.
I’ve always soldered my lugs to the case of the pot. So, literally, the leg is bent in the exact opposite of the board. Most guys solder the same exact way I do, so I’m really confused how the inscription on the circuit board could be covered in solder, but anything is possible. In short, there...
Nice score! Yeah, the blue stripes are the most pissed off of all the Mark III Revisions! I’m pretty competent with a soldering iron, but I always send my Marks in to have Mike mod them. The guy is awesome, and I’m concerned how much longer he will work there.
Sorry man, I assumed solder was on the casing, not up on the board. Who the hell did that solder job? It’s guitar electronics, not a bukkake film.
As mentioned above, text with a multimeter on both outside lugs, but unsolder any loads attached to them.
True, and my works the same way, but if the frame is slightly softer, it may produce a warmer tone. Just like the difference between an aluminum bridge and a pot metal bridge.
I didn’t think these things were that rare. I’ve seen a few of them, and they’ve always been listed at typical Marshall prices. I believe they are the same as the Marshall equivalent.
The simplest way is to simply read the value in the circuit board of the potentiometer. You can find the markings on the top, opposite from the lugs, right behind the shaft (he he).
Right now, I have to LPCs with the EMG 85 in the neck position, one LPC has the 57 Classic in it, and the last LPC has a SD 59 in it.
The EMGs work as expected, and work well for me. The neck pickup I absolutely love right now is the 57 Classic.
