anyone do the full time “club circuit”?

Played in the Delaware cover scene for a while in one of the more known cover bands, played 4-6 nights a week in my 20's all over the tri-state area and as far south as the keys. Used to make anywhere from 150-300 a night depending on the club and how far we had to travel. Lots of miles and...

Guys who play out (or used to)…question

I'd bring two for cover shows, would learn how to play everything in one tuning so there wasn't constant breaks between songs switching guitars around.

What solo are you working on?

After 20 plus years of doing the cover band shit I'm not learning anything for a while, I'll play my own boring riffs for the time being. The angry again solo would be cool to check out though.

How do I restring these vintage tuners with the holes in the shaft?

I have two luxxtones with these tuners, I always measure two tuners past the one I'm stringing, seems to work quite well, for the last two strings I just guesstimate.

MESA/Boogie® Mark IIC+ full demo & overview ft. Doug West & Tommy Waugh

Well for an amp to be reissued for a certain buyer they certainly missed the mark with this demo, unless the feel is 100% accurate I'd say they created an amp that's very limited compared to their current offerings. If the feel is there then it's game on I guess.

Well, the new Opeth dropped today!

I think it's their best album since watershed, opinions I guess.

    Michael Romeo

Dude fuckin kills it, just discovered his solo albums a couple weeks ago after years of listening to symphony x and they are both insane. Thanks for posting these.

Took a peek down the Fractal rabbit hole... considering a major change now.

I went down this same rabbit hole a couple years back. I hated the idea of going digital but I also hated the idea of continuing to lug heavy gear in to clubs at my age so I went from a Bogner rig to an original FM9 and I didn't really feel like it was missing all that much in terms of tone or...

School me on Mercyful Fate and King Diamond

For King Diamond I would say Them and The Eye, particularly the song Father Picard, kick ass riffs all over that song. For Mercyful the only album I know is Into the Unknown and it's killer all the way thru.

    ALL HALLOWS EVE

Whole album is great this time of year, but this is my favorite track.

Anyone USE THE KEY FOR INTONATION OF A FLOYD ROSE?

I always wanted this version after using the key but I got rid of all my Floyd's. The key is clunky but I managed to get it to work a few times, just took some patience and a few f-bombs.

Talk me into or talk me out of this

For that price it's kind of a no brainer, I would say to do it.

Withdrawn Luxxtone Crypt Series El Machete-price lowered again

Up for sale is my El Machete, Jerry started a special series of guitars released around a year ago called the crypt series, this is the first guitar in that run of the seven (I believe) guitars out there in this series. It's an amazing guitar but after it sitting in the case since I purchased it...

    NAD: VHT Sig:X

Sucks, I bought two of these when they came out and I really wanted to like it based on reviews coming out at that time but both were red plating like crazy and had horrible noise issues so I sent them both back and never got to really trying this amp out. They seem like a great amp that I never...

    New Dream Theater

Cool song till the solos start then it's just more of the same for me. I miss the early days when it wasn't all about playing as fast as they can and they actually crafted fitting solos.

NGD: After 30+ years, my first tele

Not your typical teles but they each have coil taps to tame them somewhat. Teles are my favorite body shape.

    Stage Fright who has it?

This is very true, most people will never know if you make a mistake and who cares anyways. But, I did have a night where Vinnie Moore strolled into the club we were playing after he toured opening up for the scorpions, my bass player thought it funny to open the night with rock you like a...

    Stage Fright who has it?

Never had stage fright really but I always found that smaller crowds were harder to play for just because it felt like everyone was staring me down. Never liked attention all that much. Played probably 500 shows in my years and that never got any easier for me. Playing at a packed club was never...

Metallica tones from a Mesa Boogie Quad into a Rectifier Stereo 2:100: Double tracked & Single Tracked

I listen to this and kick myself for ever selling the quad I had years ago. Nice tones.
