Nice! Sounds great, I miss mine. I have a bone stock 83 2203 that is still sitting idle in need of a cap job, Best Marshall I ever had too and I had an ass load of 2203/2204's. The simplicity of a 2203 with a Boss SD-1 in front always put a smile back on my face after playing other hi gain multi...
I like mid to lower output pickups in LP's today's higher gain amps. I put a set of Duncan Antquities in my R7 and they kick ass, expressive, dynamic to pick attack and clean up well rolling off the volume on the guitar. In my 3PU BB7 LPC I have a Duncan Custom in the bridge asn BB's in the mid...
I would because seafoam green doesn't belong on a Les Paul haha. Seriously, I'd let the guitars themselves do the talking. Whatever one feels, plays and sounds better is the keeper, don't worry about the dollar value
Very cool. I really like this kind of stuff...I liked the tone little better on the HCB LPC than the Standard...I think that is the first scalloped fretboard I ever saw on a LP before, I heard hints of DiMeola and Holdworth in there....good stuff
cool topic but from my POV if you want to reach a wider audience edited it down without all the talk and just the riffs as most people, myself will not watch a 7 and a half minute clip
Define metal. I have a 50 CL with EQ and Reverb and it does hard rock, melodic and heavy metal in the 70-90's in the likes of VH, Ozzy, Maiden, Priest etc. I pair it with a FB 4x12 with P50'e's. I'm not at all a fan of nu metal, modern, detuned stuff so I can't comment in that regard. It shines...
Knowledge is key to everything. Every rule or system is good to learn just as long as you're not stuck in it and know when to break them. There is no right or wrong, its if it works for what you're going for. I always hated it guitarist over complicate fairly simple things in order to make it...
My only Mesa/Boogie amp is a DC-5 widebody combo. Its a 2 ch wE/Q 50w 6L6 amp and best $575 I ever spent on a tube amp. I use it with widebody 3/4 back oversized Mesa cab....stacked 2x12's. Great little amp
They are excellent playing and very top notch built guitars. I've just been stuck in a traditional guitar mode where LP's, Strats, Teles and old non-graphic Charvel type of guitars are the only things I like
Gary sounds like a helluva nice guy too. I'm not big into his blues stuff, not my bag but I love his Corridors of Power, Victims era and really dig hs Colosseum II fusion stuff
I wonder when they'd start the whole "relicing" of amps that sat in an room, never opened up past 1 on the master and still have NOS original tubes barely broken in on a 10,15, 20+ year old amp haha
a lot of fusion guys used Marshall, Fender and Mesa/Boogie amps but with a bit less gain. Check out some old DiMeola, Jeff Beck, Holdsworth, Methany, McLauglin etc live clips on youtube. Its not so much the gear used -- its the settings and player techniques ;)
I saw him in June here in Dallas TX...he hasn't been fat for a while now. I think when he kicked coke he gained a lot of weight but he's in shape. He STILL puts on a great show and plays effortless, he's a true virtuoso in my book. I haven't seen him since the Rising Force tour before Marching...
