Gee, let me guess... YOU reached out with all communication/text, correct?
I'll tell you now, if you put that wonderfully detailed account of your experience in a google review with anything less than 5 stars, you'll get back a HUGE response about how rude you are, how he was in...
Hey all!
Just acquired a lovely Mesa Boogie Fifty/Fifty power amp with a blue light, serial number is in the F-F1400's. I've been trying to research and know that they made the Deep Mod standard on later models, but not sure if mine is or not. I know there are screws/bolts on side of the...
I don't have to boost, but I know people boost their Rec's all the time (and there's a few demos of this unit being boosted). I'd just like to boost to play around and explore (you know, like in college...)
I'd love for you to unpack how the power section in the V:25 differs sonically, if you...
Hey all!
Just acquired a gently used Mesa Boogie Rectifier Recording preamp after about two years of really getting to know my Mark V:25, which has become the standard to which all things are measured.
Spent the weekend digging in and threw down two quick and dirty demos to explore...

So... if I understand correctly, parallel wiring with a 16ohm Greenie at 25 watts and an Alnico Cream 16ohm at 90watts will destroy my Greenie if I pump 90 watts of power amp at them.
But, if I also understand correctly, if I pair (in parallel) a 16ohm 65watt Creamback and the 90 watt Alnico...
Hey all!
I have a 90 watt per side solid state power amp, the ISP Technologies Stealth... it can bridge to 180 watts, but don't care so much.
I have a 16ohm 25 watt Greenback and a 16ohm Alnico Cream 90 watt and would love to have them paired in a good ol' fashioned 2x12.
Want to do parallel...
I just threw two 65 Creambacks in a Bogner 4x12 that has two Greenbacks in it... I must say, I'm slightly underwhelmed...
I yanked the original v30's out and moved one Greenback down, kept the other up (for a potential x pattern). It actually sounded great like that... HUGE and open.
Filled...

Thanks for that... not sure what I'm after, other than the sound of the power section of the Boogie... couldn't tell you if the Boogie's power section has an early or late break up... which one would 'mimic' that the best (and I do understand how subtle those differences can be and that...
Hey all!
Playing around with my tube amps (Boogie Mark V:25, Egnater Rebel 30 Mark II, and Peavey 6505HM). Having a good time and trying to get some info on tubes to see what might best suit my needs...
On Dougstubes, he offers several EL84's that have 'early/soft, average/medium, hard/late'...
Yet another update:
Re-biased the tubes again... took it further into the green until it started to hum and then backed off until the hum was gone. Although there is still a hint of the fizz still present, it's got MUCH more depth and much bigger and closer to the Boogie... however, the Boogie...
I just piped it through the power section of my Boogie Mark V:25 and HOLY SHIT.... jesus just stumbled... the preamp section of the 6505 was definitely NOT the problem... the 'fizz' is coming from the power section. Perhaps a readjustment on the bias? Followed the advice of this guy:
So...
NECRO-Bump! (Forgive me...)
Swapping out tubes in my newly acquired 6505mh (got her in a trade) to soften her up just a bit as the aggressiveness is unearthly... I tend more towards a Mark V:25 as a standard marker for what I like, and I'd love to move this little beast just a bit more in that...
The Alnico Cream sounds great in the oversized 1x12 when I'm running the 4x12 with the Greenbacks as well. I did put the Cream in the 4x12 with the Greenie and it just didn't have that 'thing' I was hoping for. Very interesting speaker, for sure...
Thanks for all the info and anecdotes! Much...
LOVED the 90 Watt Celestion Alnico Creams when I got them several years ago... sounded SO good...
But lately, since acquiring a little Avatar 1x12, and doing a lot of swapping speakers from cab to cab, I'm finding that in almost all my cabs, there's that unique and very alnico 'thing' going on...
