The original plan was to build a copy of my amp for Dino. It’s been a couple years since then, I don’t have any involvement with Fortin besides meeting him to document the amp so I can’t say for certain what they have planned if/when a production model comes out.
What I can tell you is if it’s...
I’m the “kid” who owns the Metalhead modded Marshall Dino mentions in the video.
The Fortin modded Marshall Dino currently owns is not a copy of my amp, he had that done long before he came in contact with me.
As he mentioned in the video, I didn’t want to sell the amp. Dino asked if I would...
I have experimented with a few different setups but my favorite so far is using my main head with a different, second head as a slave. The main head and slave have different power sections and run through different speakers so even though they are both using the same preamp signal it really...
That compression pot does make a huge difference. At first I wasn’t sure how I liked it, then remembered the trim pot. I ended up turning it down all the way but I have the pedal set with the drive extremely low and level almost maxed to slam the front of my amp.
Both the Dragon and Standout rule. There is some overlap between them but they also each have their own flavor. The nicest thing about them is that there is so much adjustment range, you can get some really extreme sounds but also dial them in to be a very transparent boost if you want.
Is the Dragon able to achieve a clean boost like the Standout with the drive control turned all the way down? I underestimated how awesome the Standout is, I keep finding uses for it. I should have ordered two of them   .
Can the Dragon achieve a clean boost like the Standout if the drive control is turned all the way down? If I had realized how awesome this pedal is ahead of time I would have bought two.
Graphic EQ into the front of the amp, mids boosted, level boosted, bass cut to taste. Yields very similar results to some of the boutique boosts out there.
Man, I want to jump on this but I don’t think I could swing it right now. Are there any markings on the chassis or documentation to prove it’s a genuine Langner mod? It sounds great in the clip!
Effectrode stuff is top notch. I’ve never tried the Firebottle or Tube Drive but I have a Blackbird, which is essentially a tube preamp pedal with clean and overdrive channels. It sounds great, I use it with a loop switcher into the return of my modded 800 and it’s just like having a 3 channel amp.
  you have a good memory.
I wasn’t surprised to see the VH140C mentioned. The closest thing I could compare the Metalhead to is my old SS140C, it was my main amp for 11 years. I went through a few tube heads but kept going back to the Ampeg, I figured I just didn’t like tubes. Then I...
First off, please forgive my amateur recording skills and lack of shredding ability   .
If you had to compare this to something, what kind of amp would you say it sounds like? I'll reveal what it is later on but I'm kind of curious what other people have to say. I will tell you that...
For what the new ones cost I would just buy a 70’s Custom. As much as the blues lawyers hate the Norlin era, every 70’s Les Paul, SG or ES-335 I’ve played has been killer. They have a different character than modern era Gibsons.
I just picked up a Marshall 1960AHW with 55hz G12H Heritages. I’m using it with a Metalhead modded 800 to play death metal and it rips. I was surprised with how aggressive it sounds. The speakers are pretty balanced, tight and add some extra crunch. I can use less gain with the G12Hs as opposed...
I'm pretty certain his daddy isn't rich, unless it's from Joe's fame   . I'm from the same area he grew up in, his dad tried opening a guitar shop around here a few years ago. It was a small place with nothing particularly special and ended up going out of business after a year or so...
